With a war hammer in each hand, he was picking up speed as he charged at Hawthorn.
Instead of stepping aside or backing off, Hawthorn tightened his grip on the sledgehammer and continued making his way toward Brenton.
The two of them were determined to face each other head-on in a fight to the death.
It was as if the rest of the vampires and humans had agreed to let the two fight it out one-on-one, both sides simply held their positions and waited to see the outcome of the clash.
Hepburn furrowed her brows as she watched on anxiously from the side.
Aaryan, on the other hand, had a nonchalant smile on his face and looked as though he was enjoying a performance.
Colin and the others looked at Nathan and asked, “When do we join the fight?”
“Be patient. We'll decide our course of action after we see what these vampires are capable of,” Nathan replied calmly.
“Die, you vile creature of darkness!” Brenton yelled at the top of his lungs as he increased his movement speed even further.
Those words had barely left his mouth when he closed in on Hawthorn and swung the war hammer in his right hand.
Hawthorn stepped to the side with lightning speed and dodged Brenton's attack with surprising ease.
However, Brenton was quick to follow up with another strike using the war hammer in his left hand.
Again, Hawthorn was able to dodge it.
Despite having missed both of his strikes, Brenton had entered a flow state and continued swinging his hammers at a much faster pace.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A series of loud noises echoed throughout the area.
Anything that Brenton's war hammers struck was instantly shattered, but he couldn't even graze Hawthorn's clothes, let alone do any damage to him.
Hawthorn chuckled when he saw the look of shock and frustration on Brenton's face. “Hehehe... You're going to have to do better than that, Holy Knight of the Curia! You've got some guts swinging those hammers at me with your current skill level. Now, allow me to show you the proper way to use a hammer!”
As he raised his heavy sledgehammer high up into the air, the sledgehammer started buzzing and vibrating violently.
The look on Brenton's face changed the moment he saw that.
With an icy-cold sneer, Hawthorn then brought the sledgehammer down with all of his might.
Whoosh!
The sledgehammer produced a terrifyingly loud whistling noise as it moved through the air.
It was moving so fast that it produced enough friction with the air molecules to generate heat waves.
All the alarm bells in Brenton's head were ringing at that point.
He let out a desperate scream as he crossed his war hammers and attempted to block the incoming attack.
Boom!
A deafening noise tore through the area as Hawthorn's sledgehammer knocked both of Brenton's war hammers out of his hands.
Brenton's hands were broken from the shockwave, causing him to scream in agony as he went flying and landed next to Nathan's feet.
Although Brenton wasn't exactly the most likeable person in the group, Hepburn and the others still gasped in shock when they saw what happened to him.
Brenton had wanted to show off his skills in front of Hepburn, but he ended up embarrassing himself instead.
Having collapsed next to Nathan with both of his arms broken, Brenton's face burned bright red from the embarrassment and extreme pain.
Despite having defeated Brenton with a single blow, Hawthorn was not satisfied.
He then ran up to Nathan with his sledgehammer raised to deal Brenton a finishing blow.
“Die!” Hawthorn yelled as he brought his hammer down with much more power and speed.
The sledgehammer was producing so much friction with the air that it caught fire on the spot.
Brenton, who was lying on the ground, watched in fear as the flaming sledgehammer came down upon him.
He wanted to dodge it, but he was too weak and injured to do so.
All Brenton could do was stare at the incoming attack with despair in his eyes.
I guess this is the end of the line for me...
He was about to close his eyes and accept his fate when a tall figure suddenly appeared in front of him.
To Brenton's surprise, the person who stepped in to save him was none other than Nathan himself.
He had been extremely hostile toward Nathan ever since the latter got off the plane, and yet, Nathan was the one who stepped forward to save his life when he was on the brink of death.
At that very moment, Nathan's tall and broad figure resembled a grand mountain that could shield him from anything.
