Hepburn and the rest exchanged looks when they learned that Nathan had issued a challenge to the Alpha Wolf, Raytor.
What a simple but crude way to settle things!
Nathan had once again taken Allot and his fellow veterans by surprise.
Allot muttered under his breath, “What a lunatic that Mr. Cross is! How could he challenge the Alpha Wolf to fight to the death? It's only a matter of time before this place is razed to the ground.”
His men surrounded him and asked anxiously, “Sir, should we evacuate now?”
Nathan had mentioned that the place had been taken over. Hence, Allot and his men could technically leave.
However, Allot didn't see Nathan as his general and had not received orders from his superior to retreat.
After much thought, he said through gritted teeth, “We can't leave this place yet even though it's dangerous. Our superiors did not order us to back down.”
His subordinates were dumbfounded.
Sh*t. We're done for. That lunatic, Nathan, is going to be the death of us.
Allot gave the Holy Maiden, War Gods of the Light, the bishops, and the Holy Knights a look, as these were the people in the Curia who believed in Nathan's powers. He said thoughtfully, “Don't give up hope just yet. We have quite a number of people in the Curia who believe in Nathan's powers. Who knows? Maybe Nathan might create a miracle for all of us.”
His subordinates sighed as they could only hope for the best now. “Let's hope so.”
Hepburn started to busy herself after Nathan issued the challenge to Gishwick's Alpha Wolf. She really wanted to help Nathan take down the werewolves.
After making sure that the Curia's army was clear with their duties, she immediately summoned rangers, bounty hunters, and lone warriors nearby on behalf of the Curia to go up against the werewolves.
She even promised them a handsome reward with money out of her pocket.
In reality, the number of rangers and bounty hunters who killed vampires and werewolves as a living had increased ever since these creatures wreaked havoc in Adrune.
