A pair of boots appeared before Eugene IV. Eugene IV's gaze was vacant as he lifted his head, only to find Nathan standing in front of him.
From his elevated position, Nathan looked indifferently at Eugene IV. “If you have an ounce of conscience left, have your men lay down their weapons and surrender. This can spare many people from meaningless deaths. Have them surrender, and in exchange, I can promise to leave your body intact, allowing you a more dignified death.”
Eugene IV gave a bitter smile. “Ha! To the victor go the spoils. I've lost, so there's nothing more to say. Kill or carve me up; it's your call, but my people will not surrender without a fight. Besides, don't you dare gloat. Divine Realm won't let you off the hook for killing me, so many Gods, and even Elder Morgon! His Majesty will not spare you. You just wait to face his wrath and await the arrival of the apocalypse!”
Seeing Eugene IV remain as stubborn as ever, Nathan raised his voice. His voice boomed like rolling thunder, audible to everyone on the battlefield. “The head of the Curia, Pope Eugene IV, colluded with the Gods and betrayed mankind. He even attempted to incite a civil war on Earth to create an opportunity for the Gods to invade. He has committed heinous crimes and unforgivable sins. In the name of the Earth Alliance's commander-in-chief, I sentence this person to death, and his execution to be carried out immediately. Fang!”
As Nathan's words fell, a burly figure appeared beside him like a flash of lightning, uttering in a deep voice, “At your service!”
Nathan said indifferently, “Execute the traitor to serve as a warning to others.”
“Yes!”
Without any hesitation, Fang raised his sword, ruthlessly slashing down at Eugene IV, who was kneeling before him.
Eugene IV watched with a complex gaze as the blade fell before him. As death approached, he, whether subconsciously or on a whim, suddenly shouted out, “Long live the Gods! His Majesty will eventually destroy the Earth to demonstrate his divine powers—”
Swoosh!
The blade fell, and with a single stroke, it severed the head of Eugene IV.
With a furious kick, Fang sent Eugene IV's head flying, causing it to land amidst a crowd of Curia experts in the distance, sparking a wave of panic.
The headless corpse of Eugene IV fell straight to the ground, blood pooling around it.
Fang roared, “The leader of the traitors has been punished! Lay down your weapons and surrender immediately, or face death without mercy.”
Pope Eugene is dead! The Curia army was dumbfounded.
Many people felt as if they had lost their guiding principle, their faces filled with confusion.
