Scrambling to Be the Father of His Ex-Wife's Kid novel Chapter 2612

Nibel looked at me with amusement in his eyes. "I think you misunderstood me, Miss Wanda. I called you here today not to get you to help me convince President Grant but simply to explain what happened before."

"Is that so? That's fine, then. But I suppose that with your power, Mr. Nibel, reaching a partnership with Grant Corporation would be imperative," I said sincerely. Theo would work together with Nibel.

Nibel's head fell back as he laughed the moment I said that. "I'll be counting on your blessing then, Miss Wanda. This tea is pretty good, no?"

I was a little stuck due to the sudden change of topic. Stunned, I then said, "Yes, it's not bad. It has a strong aroma and a sweet aftertaste. I didn't expect you to have researched tea."

"It's not really research. I just enjoy it. Hatton tea leaves are very different."

I was not interested in tea leaves and could only offer him a smile.

"I hope you'll believe me, Miss Wanda."

"I think there's some credibility."

As if I would believe him.

I smiled faintly. Theo wanted me to cooperate with him. This ought to be enough, then.

I rejected Nibel's offer for dinner that night and went back to the apartment.

I noted that the lights in the living room were on before I even went in. Was there a burglar?

I entered carefully and heard clanging from the kitchen. I picked up the broom behind the door and moved toward the kitchen.

Seeing the shadow drift out, I raised the broom and was about to defend myself when my ears registered a familiar voice. "Wanda?"

"Theo?"

I almost hit his head.

I put down the broom and sighed with relief. "It's you. Why did you come over without saying anything?"

Theo placed the dish of vegetables that he had just cooked on the table. "Would I have to come here if someone had refused to come home?"

Lips pursed, I turned my gaze to the dining table. Theo had cooked a lot of dishes. "Not bad."
