Sean felt a chill run down her spine at the thought of that possibility.
She knew Luke hated her so much that there was no way he would let her keep the baby.
However, after having the examination at the hospital, Sean was sure she was pregnant.
If Luke knew about it, he would ask her to get an abortion, but Sean didn't want to. She wanted to keep the baby!
Seeing Sean's terribly pale face, Sydney got worried. "Sean, are you okay? Your face looks awful."
Sean bowed her head slightly and replied, "I'm fine."
"Are you sure?" Sydney stared at Sean. She doubted it.
‘How can she be okay when her face looks so pale?'
"I'm fine, really." Sean reassured Sydney. Then she asked again, "Ms. Raines, you still haven't told me why Mr. Chase asked if I was abnormal. What did he mean?"
"I'm sorry, Sean. I'm not sure about that. I asked Luke, but he didn't tell me. He just said that something happened between you guys, so he asked me if you were abnormal lately, nothing more." Sydney gave an awkward smile.
Sean bit her lower lip. She was apprehensive. "What did you tell Mr. Chase?"
If Sydney told Luke Sean had been vomiting now and then, it would be a problem.
"I told him you were fine." Sydney shrugged her shoulders. She didn't know what Sean was worried about.
Sean looked up at Sydney, "Did you tell Mr. Chase my stomach was not feeling well lately?"
Sydney shook her head, "No, it’s not a big deal, nothing serious. I didn't tell him."
Sean breathed a sigh of relief. She looked at Sydney with grateful eyes. "I see. Thank you, Ms. Raines." She bowed towards Sydney.
‘Fortunately, Ms. Raines believes I just have an upset stomach. If she'd told Mr. Chase if I'd been vomiting lately, Mr. Chase would have realized I am pregnant. He would have sent me to the hospital to have an abortion.'
Sydney was confused. She didn't understand why Sean thanked her and why the secretary was relieved to learn what she told Luke.
Sydney waved her hand. "It's okay. I just told Luke what I knew. But what happened between you guys?"
Sean lowered her head and didn't answer.
Sydney understood that Sean didn't want to tell her. She shook her head, "It's okay if you don't want to tell me. But if there's a misunderstanding between you guys, talk to Luke. Don't let it come between you, or it will be more difficult to clear it up later. If you want to be with Luke, talk to him as soon as possible."
Sean forced a smile, "I know that. Thank you, Ms. Raines."
"All right. You may leave now." Sydney waved her hand.
Sean took a breath, turned around, and headed for the door.
But her steps were so much heavier now than when she came in earlier.
Bang!
The office door slammed shut.
A large palm suddenly covered Sydney's eyes. She couldn't see anything.
Sydney took Julien's hand off her eyes, turned her head to him, and asked, "What are you doing?"
"You've been watching her for too long." Julien replied as he wrapped his arm around her waist.
Sydney cried out, "I'll just watch Sean go out. Are you jealous of that?"
Julien grunted, "You can only look at me in that way."
"You're being childish." Sydney rolled her eyes at him. Then she picked up the coffee pot and refilled her cup with some hot coffee.
Julien pushed his cup over, "I'll have some too."
Sydney didn't say anything. She refilled his cup.
