Later on, he heard that he could make a lot of money working in the South, so Noah considered going to the metropolitan city of South City to work.
But what about his mother? Later, Noah devised a plan. An honest neighbor of his would take care of his mother. Once he found a job, he would send money home, paying a portion of it to his neighbor as their fees for taking care of his mother.
Noah was a hard-working, steady, and intelligent man. Not long after he arrived in the big city in South City, he successfully landed himself a job. However, it was a job in a clothing factory. And it was a position a s a seamstress. Not many men held this position, it was mainly a woman's job, men found it embarrassing. But Noah did not have time to think about all this, he wanted to earn money in the shortest time possible, so he could send money home to support his mother.
Within a year, Noah had earned more than ten thousand dollars from his job in the clothing factory. H e only saved two thousand dollars as living expenses for himself, sending all of the remaining money to his mother.
That year, Noah did not go home to celebrate New Year's Day. He wanted to stay here a little longer, and after earning a little more money, he would go home
and never leave again. Then, he hoped to get a wife in his hometown, to start a family, and take care of his mother.
Another year passed, Noah had earned more than twenty thousand dollars. Carrying the money, Noah decided to return home. Twenty years ago, twenty thousand dollars was considered a fairly large sum of money. At least when he got married it would be a respectable amount to send to the bride's family as a wedding gift. However, when he returned home, Noah never expected to find his mother in such a condition. She was as thin as a stick, laying on the bed and hardly moving.
Only after he asked his mother did he find out that his neighbors only fed her one meal a day, and it was all leftovers at that. When they were busy, they even sent her some food once every two or three days.
That family, however, was enjoying themselves. With the more than ten thousand dollars that he sent home, they built themselves four large big houses.
Noah was so angry he almost fell sick. But at the thought that his old mother would have no one to care for her if he died, he forcefully calmed himself down, convincing himself that he would make the family pay for their actions two times over once he achieved success.
That year, Noah did not leave his hometown in search of work. Instead, he stayed home and focused on nursing his mother back to health. The money he had was enough for the two of them to live a good life in the small county town. Within the year, his old mother regained her health and was able to return to the fields to work. She could even sell food, like fruits and eggs at the market to pay for her own expenses.
A year later, his old mother urged Noah. "Son, you should go to the city to work again. Earn more money, then when you're home you can build yourself a house and get a wife."
Noah agreed. He worked in South City for another year. That year was the fourth year after he had graduated high school. If he did attend university, he would be a university graduate now. That year, Noah was twenty-two years old, young and healthy. He was a steady and hardworking fellow and he did not look too bad either. Unknowingly, he attracted the attention of the boss of the factory he was working at.
Back then, the boss of the factory he was working at was worth several millions of dollars. He was considered a rich and affluent man. His boss called him into his office to have a chat with him. "Hill, I heard you're the only son in your family? And you don’t have any family left except for your old mother?"
Noah did not know what his boss wanted with him, but still, he remained calm and steady. "Boss, whatever you called me here for, please tell me directly. I'm not good at much else, but I will definitely work hard here in the factory.”
Hearing his calm and steady tone, his boss was delighted. He cut to the chase and asked, "Hill, I want you to marry into my family. Do you agree?"
