Still Wanna Escape After Stealing My Heart? novel Chapter 1267

Jennie was still his father's cousin at the end of the day. His father had been close to her since they were young. Considering that it was her daughter calling, Marcus couldn't express his anger in any way no matter how irritated he felt. After a pause, he asked," Did you and Aunt Jennie call the old residence?"

The woman whom he called Lori giggled cheerfully and said, "We did, we did. Grandpa Shaw wouldn't pick it up at first, it was uncle who picked it up later o n. You know, cousin Marcus, uncle really cares for my mom, right?"

Marcus did not know what to say.

"Once uncle realized it was mom calling, he immediately invited us to your house. We will be there in about ten minutes."

"Lori...you...don't..."

Before he could finish his sentence, Lori had already hung up. Marcus was rendered speechless. He had wanted to stay for the entire day with his aunt, to have a meal with her and keep her company. It was what Marcus intended, also what his grandfather and father intended.

His father had once told Marcus, "Marcus, though your grandpa had wronged your aunt and I did my fair share of damage to her as well. I saw her a few times

when she was young, but I hated her guts. It wasn't until I grew up and encountered hardship in life that I realized that she is still my sister by blood. Marcus, you need to go visit your aunt more often, do you understand?"

Marcus could only nod in all seriousness. He carried his father and grandfather's hope on his shoulders. He could only hope to slowly work towards getting his aunt back home and accepting his grandfather, once she truly accepted Marcus. If only she could find it in her heart to accept his grandfather, then the old Master Shaw would be happy even if he was to die the next day. It's what Marcus wanted, also what his father and grandfather expected of him. Personally, however, he knew that his aunt was happy where she was. She was the happiest woman as long as she kept her distance from the Shaw Family. Each time Marcus saw her, he would be conflicted. But then, he decided that he didn't care if she would come to respect his grandfather, so long as she was happy.

His grandfather might have given his aunt life, but he did not raise her. Therefore, Marcus decided that he would not ask for anything but his aunt's happiness. However, that plan was interrupted today. Marcus was furious, but he couldn't let it show in front of his aunt.

After hanging up, he tried his best to suppress his anger and turned to Gloria. "Auntie, I'm afraid I won't b e able to eat here today."

Gloria's expression instantly changed. "What's wrong,

Marcus?"

"Nothing, Auntie. There's just something urgent that I need to take care of."

Without further explanation, he turned to leave. He drove home, but before he could get through the door o f his house, he saw his Aunt Jennie's daughter, who h e unwillingly referred to as his cousin, standing outside the door and waving at him. She was holding the hand of a little girl.

"Marcus, Marcus!" A woman dressed in white that looked both elegant and playful waved and greeted Marcus. "You are finally back, Marcus. This is great!"

Marcus did not respond. He parked the car and got off, before approaching the woman wordlessly.

"Marcus..."

"Lori, are you trying to play the innocent card?" he questioned her sharply.
