Ever since Gloria had been told off by Jennie in front o f the Shaw residence's door about ten days ago, the old Master Shaw had not seen his daughter up until now. It seemed as though it had been ages since they last saw one another, and Gloria's expression was slightly complicated to the point that it was hard to tell if it was hatred; while the old Master Shaw looked calm, as though he did not know Gloria, to the point that enraged even Marcus.
"Grandpa! How could you come here with Aunt Jennie and Lori to participate in Sabrina's intervention??"
The old Master Shaw was stunned at first, but then asked slowly, "Who? Whose intervention?"
Marcus did not answer the old Master Shaw's question. He sighed and looked over to Jennie and Lori.
"Aunt Jennie, if you want to stay at our house, you should just do so peacefully and no one would have chased you out. My grandpa, my parents, and I all see you as a part of our family. But with that considered, shouldn't you talk to my grandpa about this? Aunt Gloria is my aunt by blood!" He glared at Jennie furiously. How abominable she was, this Aunt Jennie o f his!
Jennie looked at him with a smile. "You have misunderstood me, Marcus. I'm only here as a guest
today. Besides, it's your Uncle Sean who invited your grandfather and I'm just here to keep him company. I haven't a clue as to what is going to happen in the Ford residence."
"Marcus, I know that I'm just staying in the Shaw residence as a guest, so my presence has somehow troubled you the entire time, hasn't it? Let's take today as an example. I wanted to get you to send us here today, but I thought about how busy you have been lately with your architectural firm because someone keeps taking leave, so I didn't have the heart to ask. I wanted you to drive us here to the Ford residence, but I knew how hard things had been for you, and so we got our bodyguards to send us here instead."
Marcus was rendered speechless from her words, and could only look to the old Master Shaw and shout," Grandpa!"
The old Master Shaw did not even glance at his grandson. He simply said in a tired voice, "Grandpa is old now. I can't see or hear well, so whatever you guys have been saying, I can barely understand. However, I am here to participate in the Ford family's party. What is it, Marcus? Are you going to stop me from doing so?"
"Let’s go in," the old Master Shaw said. "We are here as guests. How do we expect the host to serve us if we keep chatting here in front of their door?"
With the current circumstances considered, Marcus could only take Gloria's arm. He comforted her by saying, "I'll help you in, Aunt Gloria. Don't worry, I'm right here, I won't let anyone here in this place bully m y cousin Sabrina. I will protect her, even if it costs me my life."
Just as soon he was done, another car stopped behind them. Marcus and Gloria turned around in unison and saw the first person who got out of the car.
It was Kingston.
"You guys are just arriving, Assistant Yates?" Marcus asked curiously. Gloria had pleaded for him to go after Sabrina and Sebastian, so he had thought that the two and Aino had already arrived at the residence, but as i t turned out, they were behind him?
"We went and bought some daily necessities along with some food at the Happy Family Mart at the foot o f the mountain. Master Sebastian and Mrs. Ford are the actual owners of this place, after all. They have to b e thoughtful when it comes to tending to their guests!" Kingston replied politely. He had already walked toward the back door as he spoke and opened the door, and out came Sebastian, Sabrina, and Aino.
"Grandma!" Aino shouted.
Yesterday night was the first night that Aino had spent the night with her grandmother. She realized that Gloria was much better at reading bedtime stories than her parents, so Aino had drifted off to sleep before she even knew it.
