In the middle of the night, Hector pinched Hana so aggressively that she was bruised everywhere. That night, she cried through the night while hugging her baby daughter. That year, Hana was not even twenty years old yet. It was as if Hana, who was still young, was living in a burning hell. She had to get up early and come home late every day to have her street stall manned. She even had to hide from Hector when she came home at night.
There were times when she thought of just leaving the place with her child on her back and never returning i n this life. However, Hector was very nice to their daughter. He treated their daughter as if she was his life. He even could go without eating and drinking as h e was very focused on looking at his daughter while rocking her cradle. The daughter was also very close t o Hector. This was a kind of consolation to Hana because at least her daughter had someone to take care of her. Seeing that Hector was like that, Hana simply let Hector take full responsibility for taking care of their daughter. This was good in another way because Hana could earn more money.
In the days after that, Hana put even more effort into manning her street stall. She often had to get up at four in the morning to replenish her stocks and then return home late after she kept her stall open until eleven at night. Such a life went by very quickly. In a
blink of an eye, three years had flown by. During that period, Hector had also beaten Hana up. Hana thought of carrying her daughter on her back and going far away with her money. However, her daughter fell ill after a few days Hana had taken her daughter away from home. Her daughter was not used to the environment outside, so she came down with a fever, threw up, and refused to eat. She missed her dad. At that time, her daughter was already slightly distant from her. Hana was beyond upset in her heart when she saw that. She would often cry in secret when she was manning her stall. However, she could not just stop going out to work because if she were to do so, then the whole family would starve to death.
Day by day, time just went by like this.
Hana had tried to shorten the time she spent outside the house and she started to come home earlier. This was because she wanted to spend more time with her own daughter. However, every time this happened, Hector would then take her money and go out to gamble. In this way, the money was soon completely lost by him. Hana, on the other hand, could only watch with her eyes widened as her daughter had less to eat and wear.
There were a few times that Hana even wanted to take a pickaxe and smash Hector to death. However, once she thought of Hector loving their daughter and he had such a good relationship with her, Hana just thought that giving her daughter an unbroken family and making her daughter feel that she was not lacking in love from both her father and mother was more important than anything else.
Hana did not have a mother growing up. Later on, her father married her stepmother, but her stepmother would either beat her up or curse at her. Therefore, she knew very well what it felt to have one less parent. She then did her best to create a home for her daughter in which both her parents love her very much.
In this family of three, Hana officially became the strong and efficient worker while Hector looked after their child every day. Other than that, he simply enjoyed his life and took great care of himself. He truly was living a good life. Hana, on the other hand, worked hard every day but she could not even get a hot meal when she returned home. Her daughter also gradually became more distant from her.
Not only that, but Hana was in her twenties and was a s pretty as the blossoming flower. She had a man by her side, but she did not get to enjoy the slightest bit o f pleasure between a man and woman. How could a woman in her twenties stand that? Not only did the man could not do anything, but he even pinched her until she was covered in bruises from time to time. After a long time, Hana became slightly depressed.
Hana had a melancholic temperament. This kind of temperament had often been noticed by a young man who had often done business with her. The young man was actually only nineteen. He was a freshman i n college. Because his family was not well-to-do, he was working while studying part-time. Hana was a few years older than the young man. However, without knowing when it began, the two of them started to have feelings for each other. They would both feel uneasy if they did not see each other for a day. i
After a long time, the nineteen-year-old young man made his feelings clear to her. He confessed his love for her and also asked Hana why she was so hesitant. Although the man was still young and was only nineteen years old, he was a college student after all and was very learned and talented. The young man was also more cheerful and energetic.
