Eira was so frightened that she jumped. She turned around and saw Brooke. "You...don't you have piano practice today? Why are you home?"
Brooke's voice was sharp. "You're a thief! You're a bad person! I finally know why you have to come to my house now. You have always been a beggar and a thief, right? You've had your eyes on my house for a very long time! You begged my dad and mom, and you begged me to let you stay at our house! My parents are so kind! You thief! You're stealing my mother's things!"
Brooke was almost as tall as Eira, but she seemed to b e stronger than Eira. She had never been afraid of Eira, to begin with, but because she was at her own house, Brooke was even more unafraid of Eira. She kept beating Eira while roaring angrily, "Thief!
Burglar! Little beggar! Our whole family has been so good to you, and yet, you want to steal my mother's things. I'll beat you to death! I'll beat you to death!
Little beggar! Little filthy thing. Your conscience can’t even compare to a dog's!" Brooke was truly furious.
After all, children were not very good at fighting.
Brooke has always been an overprotected child, so she was simply throwing punches without any rhyme and reason. She absolutely could not hit Eira at all because Eira was more agile than her. Eira had endured far more punches that society had thrown at her than Brooke, so much so that Brooke was so angry, but she did not even manage to hit Eira at all. However, Brooke's continuous cursing had truly infuriated Eira. That was also because Eira was afraid. She was absolutely terrified. What she feared the most was that she could not let her brother know that she had stolen something. If her brother found out, he truly would break her legs. Once she thought of that, Eira instantly put that necklace in her pocket, then she just aggressively pounced on Brooke and violently punched her. Brooke instantly had no chance to ward off her punches at all. She was beaten up so badly that she could only kneel on the floor and curled her body while hugging her head with both her hands. She was wailing in incomparable fear.
Eira was yelling. "Brooke Stevens! Listen to me carefully! I am not a beggar, and I am not a thief! Just like you, my last name is also Stevens! My dad's name i s Delmont Stevens!"
Brooke suddenly raised her head in shock. She looked at Eira with tears in her eyes. "You liar! You're lying! You little beggar! You don't deserve to have a father. How can my dad be your dad? Have you gone mad from wanting a father? You're just a dog! A stray dog!" Brooke sobbed and ran out.
She knew she was no match for Eira, and she was not a fool. Therefore, she wanted to run out to get help from the maids in her house. She did not know why the maids did not come out when she had been wailing so loudly. In fact, at that moment, the two maids in the house were watering the plants in the yard outside of the mansion, so they had not noticed what happened to the two children in the house.
At that very moment, Brook had already rushed frantically to the stairs. She kept shouting at the top of her lungs. "Ma'am! Ma'am! There's a thief in our house! Quickly call the police to catch her!"
Eira was incredibly furious. "I am not a thief! I am not! This is my father's house! This is also my house! It's m y house! This is also my house! Why can't my father's house be my house? Why? Why did my dad buy so many beautiful clothes for you?"
Brooke was running like mad in front while Eira was chasing like mad behind her. In just a few steps, Brooke would have run to the stairs. However, she turned her head back in a panic to look at Eira and she did not notice the steps behind her feet. Brooke lost her footing and with a scream, she fell down the stairs. 2
Eira was at a loss for words. She ran to the stairs and saw Brooke curled at the bottom of the stairs. It seemed that she was bleeding. Eira was scared out of her wits. Her instinct was to run home. She could not let others see that she had stolen the necklace, and she could not let others see that it was because Brooke had fought with her and was chased by her that she fell down the stairs. She simply could not!
