Sebastain said it so casually, but Rose, on the other hand, had a sense that a grave disaster was about to happen to her. Just like any other old person in their death throes, she suddenly looked at Sebastian with a weak expression.
"Sebastian...Se-Sebastian...n-no, Master...Master Sebastian, I am already so old...," Rose stuttered. "I am almost seventy. How much longer can I live? I can't live much longer anymore. Considering that I am your father's wife, can you...spare me? I can be your
family's maid. In the future, I'll do anything you asked me to do in this Ford Residence. If you ask me to divorce your father now, we'll file for divorce immediately. Do you think that's alright?"
Of course, Rose was ashamed when she said those words. She had given her all to the Ford family her whole life. However, in the end, all of her sons died and she even had to divorce her companion in life. How humiliating and aggrieved that was for her?
However, no matter how humiliated and aggrieved, it could not be compared to keeping her lowly life.
She was not yet seventy years old. She could still live until past ninety years old. She did not want to die. N o! She did not want to be surrounded by a group of patients in the psychiatric hospital. She did not want t o end up like that.
Rose looked at Sebastian eagerly and was almost going to kneel before Sebastian. "Master Sebastian, I...a m begging you, please."
Sebastian did not bat an eye. His tone was as calm as a light breeze. "Beg me? When my mother was about t o give birth to us, she begged you, but what did you say? You wanted my father to kill my mother and the children in her belly back then! When my mother was sent into prison and spent more than a decade in there, have you ever thought of sparing my mother's life? I am only going to send you to the psychiatric hospital now, I am not sending you to prison! There is also the matter of my brother! You had repeatedly instilled the idea that we, the brothers, did not get along. You had repeatedly provoked him and made him go against me. In the end, you led him to his death. Has it ever crossed your mind to spare his life? No, right?"
"I have. I truly have. I had thought of it...I had thought o f letting Holden...be my son," stuttered Rose in a tremble.
Speaking of that, Rose cried. "I truly had thought of letting Holden be my son...but he...did not..."
Sebastian beat her to the punch. "He did not listen to me at all. He did not submit to your control and discipline at all. He took the nine hundred million dollars you had given him while betraying you at the same time. He did not take you seriously at all, right?"
Rose cried with even more. "I truly treated Holden very well and treated him like my own son..." "He is not your son! The nine million dollars he had taken from you were the profits generated by the Ford Group! Not to mention, half of that money belonged to my father! He is my mother's son! He is my younger twin brother. How could he treat you as his mother? That's just wishful thinking on your part."
Rose was speechless. That was true. It was just her wishful thinking, after all. She had done so much harm to a woman, and yet, she had wishfully thought o f taking that woman's son as her own. How could there be such a good thing in the world?
"But I...but I had sincerely treated...Holden well." Rose attempted to get Sebastian's sympathy.
"What do you want to say?" Sebastian asked. "Are you trying to say that you are already so old, you had long turned over a new leaf, and you still had a conscience?"
Rose smiled despondently. "I'm a normal person. How could I not have a conscience? It's just that many things had to be done for the sake of the big picture. I d o...I do have a conscience."
