After all, they were all the sons of the Ford family. Therefore, Kingston just took Vireo as Holden.
"Master, don't be hasty. That mountain is in South City. It's at the southwest corner of South City. It's very remote. However, no matter how remote, we'll be able to find the find. We'll go back to South City now. I guess that we'll be able to find it tomorrow."
"Tomorrow, tomorrow!" Vireo repeated.
The man, who had always been calm and gentle, was anxious at that moment. He desperately wished he could rush to South City in a minute and then rush to that mountain. He desperately wished he could see that woman immediately. He did not know if that woman was his biological mother. However, Vireo had a strong feeling that maybe he was about to meet his biological mother soon. In fact, he no longer dreamed o f that anymore. He had long stopped dreaming about meeting his biological parents in this life. However, when there was real hope in finding her, he still could not remain calm.
He had always wanted to take a glance at that woman, whom he had not met before. He had always wanted t o ask her why she had abandoned him back then. Why? That entire night and also that whole morning made Vireo feel incomparably tormented.
He got on the plane, and a second seemed like a year t
o him.
When he got off the plane and returned to South City, i t was already past ten at night. He did not rest, and he immediately wanted to go up the mountain to look for that woman. In the end, he was stopped by Sebastian." Vireo! Calm down! In times like this, you have to be even calmer. Are you willing to listen to me?"
Vireo nodded. There was even a catch in his throat." Sebastian. I'm willing to. Of course, I'm willing to listen to you. I know it's for my own good, but please understand me, Sebastian! I want to meet her. I must meet her immediately! I am already almost pushing forty. Do you understand, Sebastian?"
Sebastian nodded. "I understand! I understand you more than anybody. However, Holden, it's already ten a t night right now. All roads to the mountains are blocked. We can't go up. Besides, if we think about that person's age, she is already almost sixty years old. If we were to look for her in the middle of the night, the elderly woman wouldn't be able to stand being disturbed. What if she isn't your mother, then wouldn't we be disturbing a random old person? People become nuns to be at peace. We have no reason to disturb them in the middle of the night. Do you understand, Vireo?"
He understood! Of course, Vireo understood. "Thank you, Sebastian. You've reminded me just in time. My mind is in a hot mess. Therefore, I didn't think things through. I'll first go home tonight. We'll go up the mountain early in the morning tomorrow, alright?"
Sebastian nodded. "Alright!"
Vireo was accompanied by Isadora in his house that night, but he still did not sleep a wink at all. In the past few nights, Vireo had been the one hugging Isadora when they had gone to bed every night. However, that night, Isadora was the one hugging Vireo and comforting him the whole time.
Throughout the whole night, she patted him on his back and gently coaxed, "Go to bed. Have a good night's sleep. Don't be afraid. Everything could be resolved. Don't be afraid."
Vireo leaned even closer to Isadora. There was no doubt that he felt tormented that night, so much so that just as the day dawned, Vireo got out of bed. After he tucked Isadora in carefully, he tip-toed out of the house, went downstairs, and drove off. The day had just dawned, so he drove very quickly as there were very few cars on the road.
A little more than an hour later, his car arrived at the bottom of the mountain that Kingston had mentioned. He stopped the car. As he looked at that plain and gloomy-looking mountain with weeds all over and trees reaching into the sky, Vireo simply felt miserable. It was after he had asked someone at the bottom of the mountain that he learned that the extremely small convent was at the top of the mountain. Also, the way leading up to the top of the mountain was a narrow and rugged path. However, no matter how rugged the path was, it was also not an obstacle for Vireo at that moment. He could not wait t o walk along the narrow and rugged path and climb u p that mountain one step after another.
After he had climbed for another hour or so, Vireo finally saw that run-down convent, which was just as small as a farmhouse. Just as he wanted to knock on the door to enter, the door opened. An old woman wearing a faded black religious habit came out from inside.
When that old woman saw Vireo, she was suddenly stunned. Immediately after that, tears unexpectedly streamed down from her calm eyes. Her voice was low and hoarse, and distant. "Mister, may I ask who you are looking for?"
Vireo was speechless.
