After Sean had cried for a while, he laughed in a miserable. "Who would have known that being alive was worse than being dead for m e? I'm suffering in a living hell. I am in a living hell, but I can't blame anybody for it. I had brought it onto myself. However, Vireo...”
Speaking of that, Sean raised his head and looked at Vireo. "Vireo, I am a sinner. I deserved to be punished severely. If I should b e burned and thrown into the deepest ends of hell, I would accept it. I deserved all that.
However, what about your mother? Look at how thin she is. She is almost sixty years old, but she still has to chop firewood while being on this mountain. Could it be that you want her to chop firewood here by herself when she is seventy years old? What had she done wrong? What mistakes does she have? Could you bear to let her remain here in the house of worship for the rest of her life, and let her collect water and chop firewood in this forest deep in the mountains when she is seventy?"
After hearing what Sean said, Vireo became dazed. Sean was right about everything. That was his first time meeting his mother, but since he had already met his mother and knew that his mother once had her difficulties, Vireo was unable to let his mother stay there anymore. He lowered his head and looked at Sean coldly. "What's it have to do with you? She is my mother, so I will take care of her."
Sean lightly sighed. "Silly child. You're a doctor! You still have things to do. You will get married and have children. You won't be able t o take meticulous care of her. Leave your mother to me. It doesn’t matter if she is going t o beat me up or curse me, it's fine as long as your mother can feel at ease. If your mother doesn’t wish to see me, then I will not see her from now on. However, I can send food and drinks to her every day and take care of her to the best that I could without letting her see m e.
"I am already so old. I don't have any other intentions anymore. Your mother is not sixty years old yet. She is not young, but she doesn't appear old now either. Maybe she'll even be able to find a companion. One shouldn't lose ideals and hopes no matter what stages in life one is at, right, my child?"
Sean was sincere beyond measure when he said that. He indeed had no other intentions. H e simply wanted to atone for his sins and do everything possible to treat Elsa a little better.
Vireo was actually stunned by Sean's remark. On the other hand, his mother, Elsa, who was behind him, was feeling a lot less angry. Elsa originally had already been indifferent to the world for decades. However, when she met Sean, she was indeed furious and agitated.
After she had already calmed down quite a bit, she no longer chased Sean away. "Mister Ford, I appreciate your kindness. My whole life has been ruined in your hands, so the person I don't want to see the most in this life is you. Just leave. I'll be much happier if you don't ever let me see you again in this life. As for our son, you had never taken care of him for a day, and I also haven't done so. Therefore, we don't deserve to be this child's parents. If the child is willing, I will give him all the money that I had earned from chopping firewoods in the past forty years to let him live a better life. As for me, all of you don't have to care about me. I have already gotten used to being in this house of worship. I am not going anymore."
Upon saying that, Elsa looked at Vireo. "Is that alright, child?"
Vireo firmly shook his head, and then said while clearly articulating every word, "Mom! You'll come with me! Your happy days are still ahead of you! My wife and I will care for you. You're still young. You're not sixty years old yet. You can live until you're a hundred years old. You still have forty years ahead. Mom! Follow me home!"
Elsa suddenly cried and she cupped Vireo's face. "Son...l...you don't blame? I finally have a backer now, don't I?"
