He wanted to serve her every day. He wanted to cook for her and give her flowers every day. It was just that simple without any schemes and ulterior motives at all. How great would that be?
Gloria rolled her eyes at him with annoyance, and then she smiled. "James, you didn't bring me flowers today."
"Gloria, I—" James wanted to explain himself but he was cut off by Gloria before he did.
"I know. I know, James," said Gloria. "It's because you heard Angie talking about her husband who used to sweet-talk at the beginning but ended up having a change of heart, so you don't want to be a man who sweet-talks. You didn't want to be like Angie's husband. He gave her flowers every day and treated her very attentively, but in the end, he still abandoned Angie. A m I right?"
James nodded. "Yes, I just wanted to do something more useful for you."
To restrain himself from sweet-talking was something that James and his gang had discussed together the night before. It was because they were afraid that they would alarm Gloria and all of their previous efforts would be in vain.
"But I won't," Gloria said firmly.
"Won’t what?" James asked.
"I have my own judgment." Gloria smiled confidently. "I can tell whether a person is good or bad. Take you. You are not that kind of man in your bones at all. Isn't that right, James?"
Janies immediately agreed. "Yes, you're right, Gloria. How could I be a man like Angie's husband?"
"So what are you afraid of?"
James was speechless.
