"A mother who was yet to be forty died with resentment! James Dunn! You're a man who has committed so much sin, yet you're telling me that you're sincere to me?"
James was unable to say anything at all. He looked dispirited as if he was about to die. "You may not know this but I really have fallen for you. I had really never fallen for any of the women that I have scammed. However, I have really given my love to you! I had truly thought about living my life with you. It's just that being in this line of work, I don't have a choice. I have already been working together with my gang for so many years. We are one entity. We can't be divided. However, I truly have given you my love! I send you flowers every day! I made breakfast for you and I helped you repair your electrical appliances at home. I went to watch you dance and play the piano every day. I truly have fallen for you!"
James actually had a catch in his throat when he said that. His eyes were feared up and his expression was incomparably aggrieved. He let out a long sigh. "If I hadn’t fallen for you, the method we used to abduct you may be a hundred times more vulgar! You may have already been shared by a few men a long time ago! They never would have let you go! It’s because I have blocked all of these for you! I was afraid that you’ll get hurt!"
"You feel very wronged, don't you?" Gloria asked, smiling.
"Of course!" James said very loudly.
"James Dunn, the idea you first had was to be very vicious and merciless to me. You intended to take my money, violate me with so many of your accomplices, and you wanted to let me die a miserable death!
However, you had a change of mind halfway through. You sympathized with me, so the method you used to lie, rob, and harm me became much gentler. You wanted me to be grateful to you because of this. Am I right?"
"I..." James said.
Gloria sneered. "It would be an intolerable injustice if people like you did not get the death sentence!"
After saying that, Gloria turned around and headed out together with Angie. James was left behind them feeling extremely miserable. "It's a mistake! It's a mistake! It's all my fault! I was not merciless enough! " He sobbed.
While bawling his eyes out, he looked toward his dispirited accomplices. "You guys as well! You're insatiably greedy! If we were to spend less time and get it over and done with quickly, I can still at least get a few million! But you guys insist on going big! You insisted on going big! We've done ourselves in now, haven't we?" he sobbed.
When a man who was cruel and had no limits cried, he truly did not give a damn about his image at all. However, at that moment, there was no use at all no matter how much he cried. James and his gang were arrested and led out of Gloria's house by a group of armed police. Gloria also walked out of there in the company of another policewoman. It was also at that moment that Sabrina, Yvonne, and others arrived at the road outside of the house. Seeing Gloria walking out unharmed and was also being escorted by the police, Sabrina felt very relieved. She had never expected that all these things had also happened to her mother during that period.
Sabrina leaned on her mother's shoulder." Mom! You've become a great hero to the people! Were you afraid at all when you were dealing with such a group of heinous people?"
Gloria shook her head. "I was afraid as well, but once I thought of the fact that I was already more than fifty years old, then who do I have to be afraid of? There is also another reason..."
Gloria took a pause halfway through her sentence. At that moment, there was suddenly a knock on the gate in the courtyard. Both the mother and daughter got up and came outside of the courtyard.
"Who is it?" Gloria asked.
"I am your...father." It was Old Master Shaw’s cautious voice outside the door.
