"However, I really can't follow you back and act all happy in front of you. That's because you and I are really not close to each other at all. Not only are we not close, but every time I see you, I will be reminded of my weak and sick mother, who had been lonely all her life, and had died with so much resentment."
Speaking of that, Gloria lowered her gaze. No words were able to describe that kind of pain.
"My mother was a person who had never been willing to trouble anybody. Even when she knew that she was seriously ill, she did not trouble her family. Instead, she chose to go somewhere far away by herself. The loneliest and most helpless day in her life was the day she saved our life! She had saved you! What did you do instead? You treated the savior of your life as the woman who kept pestering you. You treated her as a woman from the lowest position in this world. You were deeply afraid that she would ruin your family.
Your noble character and integrity, your loyalty, and your devotion to your wife were what you've gotten after trading it with my mother's blood, tears, and life. I have seen all the pains and misery my mother had her whole life. Tell me, how am I supposed to live with you?"
Gloria sighed. "Also, even if I were to leave my mother out of this discussion, just me alone is enough. Do you know when a person needed their parents the most in their life? Before they turn eighteen. What happened to me before I turned eighteen? Not only did my father not care about me and not give me any love, but he humiliated me in every way. You made me feel I did not deserve to be a human when I was a child. I was simply a beggar when I was a child. Therefore, Dad, later on, in the few years I became a homeless person to hide from Lincoln, I felt especially free. I felt that I may have been born a beggar. That sense of identity and the relatedness I felt to the identity was so appropriate. You were worried and scared that I was violated by James. You were afraid that I would be treated inhumanely by those outlaws. In fact, you really don't need to worry about that at all because I had often fought with wild dogs in the few years when I was a homeless person. I had even fought with rats for food. It's true. I am not lying to you. Therefore, I am very strong and tough."
Old Master Shaw was covered in tears when he heard that. "You actually fought with wild dogs?" "So, Dad, you, who have been pampered all your life, would never be able to imagine who a person living at the bottom of the society pulls through in life. You and I are truly people from two different worlds. If there is any kind of deeply-rooted relationship that can't ever be broken between us, then that would be the unbreakable blood relations between you and me. From a biological perspective, we are a pair of father and daughter, so I call you dad. That is all. Dad, if you really love me, don’t care about me anymore in the future. This is considered the best care you, being my father for once, is able to give me. As for your property, it's best for you to announce now that you'll be giving all of your properties to your son, as well as Marcus and his brothers. I choose to publicly give them up. This will also save me from being targeted by all sorts of gangs who want to cheat me out of my money in the future.”
Her words were said very calmly and were not at all heartless. However, Old Master Shaw felt incredibly miserable after he heard it. His gaze was very gloomy and he muttered, ”1-1 got it. Then, leave now, alright?"
"Goodbye, Dad." Gloria nodded.
The old man turned around and walked away. He had only taken a few steps when he suddenly leaned forward and he fell straight to the floor.
"Dad!" Gloria immediately ran over.
