Mister and Missus Yates were both stunned.
Then, the thief came tearing down the lane towards Missus Yates. The thief was a bony man, who looked about as old as Kingston Yates. He had only seen Yvonne's mother, when he reached out and deftly grabbed the necklace on Missus Yate’s neck, tugged it, and ran.
The whole chain of events took less than two seconds from beginning to end.
When Yvonne's parents came to their senses, the thief was running off again.
Behind him, a woman ran up to Yvonne's parents panting. She put her hands on her knees, and she gasped for air as she said to Misterand Missus Yates, "What has the world come to, for someone to commit daylight robbery? Call the police!
Call the police! Don't let him get away! You saw him clearly!"
Yvonne's parents did not say a word.
Albeit only for a second or two.
However, Yvonne's parents saw who the thief was.
Mister Yates could recognize the thief by his bones, even if he had lost his skin.
Mister and Missus Yates looked at each other, and Missus Yates said anxiously, "Is this an eventful time? Why did I meet him at this time, and why did he rob me? Do you think this is a coincidence?"
Yvonne's father also looked depressed, "I think we have lived peacefully for thirty years, with no wind and no waves. Yvonne is lovely, and our little family is extremely happy. As soon as Yvonne came to some difficulty with the Shaw family, we met him here again, and he robs you. If we call this a coincidence, would we also say when it rains, it pours?"
Missus Yates sighed.
After a pause, she took MisterYate's arm and said, "Let's go. Let's go home first and discuss it at home. No matter what happens, we can deal with it ourselves."
Mister Yates nodded, "Alright."
The couple held each other and left, when the woman shouted behind them, "Are you just going to leave?! Aren't you going to call the police?"
