Kingston looked at the girl before him nervously. He was thinking that no matter what had the girl done in the past, he would not dislike her for it. She would still be her friend and would still treat her as his own benefactor. That was because it was truly difficult to judge if a person was good or bad. Even if she was a criminal in prison, she would also have her good side.
Take Sabrina, for example. She had been imprisoned for a few years in the past. Could that be enough to determine that Sabrina was a bad and despicable person who deserved to be condemned?
No.
It was quite the opposite. Sabrina was an incredibly proud, kind, and good person who bore no ill-will toward others.
Kingston looked at the girl in front of him with an even gentler gaze and said in a tone that was just as incredibly gentle," Eevonne, no matter what kind of job you’ve done in the past that you're going to be telling me next, in my eyes, you're a good girl. You'll forever be my benefactor. I have seen the sufferings and injustice you've experienced in the past before you met me. Listen to me, you don’t experience that in the future anymore. In the future, I’ll back you up!"
There has never been a moment like that moment where Kingston felt that the 20 percent of the Ford Group's shares given to him by Sebastian would make him feel that they had such great use.
Kingston was not interested in money. He was even more uninterested in power.
His life goal was actually very small. It was enough for him as long as he could live comfortably and have a wife.
In the past, when he was following Sebastian, all he was thinking of was to spend the rest of his life protecting Sebastian. Even Sebastian’s wife and children were his lifelong responsibility.
It was because he treated Sebastian as his family that he accepted the 20 percent of the company’s shares that Sebastian had given him.
Kingston was not too surprised about the money. He was surprised at that time because he felt that Sebastian's bond with him was truly very strong. He felt that it was all worth it for following Sebastian all his life.
It was at that very moment that Kingston truly felt how useful it was to be one of the five directors of the Ford Group.
At least when this girl was bullied in the future, he could step up and tell those people who had bullied her in an incredibly condescending manner that somebody has her back! Also, the person backing her up was quite powerful! He wanted to let all the people who bullied the girl know that he was not afraid of anybody, no matter how powerful!
Eevonne smiled happily. "Thank you for backing me up."
After that, she looked at Kingston incredulously again, "You don't mind what I had done in the past at all?"
"That is your past, and it is already in the past. As long as you do well in the future, you’ll simply be a good girl. Besides, no matter what you have done, you're my benefactor, that's a fact that can't be changed. I have no right to despise my benefactor. Tell me, Eevonne, what have you done after that?" Kingston asked calmly.
Eevonne smiled. "I don't know if it's good or bad, but it's mainly related to me. I was too vain."
"Vain?" Kingston was thinking, could she have become a homewrecker for the sake of money?
"Yes, I was a vain girl with low self-esteem. When I heard my mother scolding and telling me what my uncle and aunts have said to slander me, I thought, I must make something of myself. I must be outstanding! On top of that, I was working at the office of the factory at that time. All of the girls and boys were dressed very glamorously. I had told you just now that even though an exception had been made for me and I was transferred into the office, I was the most unfashionable girl in there. Do you know what they thought of me at that time? They just...thought of me like I'm a monkey performing tricks. When I wore my skate shoes that I had brought from my hometown, they would sarcastically ask me what the brand was and comment that I was good at pairing it."
