Her beauty was beyond his expectation. She had always been cold, almost expressionless most of the time that he had known her. The only times that he had seen a smile on her face was when she was with his mother. It was the kind of smile that one would see on teenage girls, sweet and innocent. He had also seen the way Sabrina had distanced herself from everyone all the time like she didn't belong, but he had never seen her in such an indolent demeanor and was taken by surprise as to how alluring that had made her.
"How do I look?" Sabrina asked casually. No matter how hard life had been growing up, she had never imagined herself to one day earn a living by being a plaything for men. Even when she was trapped in prison for two years, she had never given up on life. She worked hard and studied architecture under Aunt Grace's wings and often dreamed of finding a designing job when she was released to make ends meet for her mother and herself. In her little fantasy, she would even find herself a boyfriend that loved her and live happily ever after. But things never quite turned out the way she had hoped. Perhaps her fate had always been decided, since that night Lincoln Lynn bailed her out only to have her deflowered by Sebastian. If she was destined to be a plaything, she might as well act the part.
"How do I look?" she asked again, doe-eyed.
"Take that off!" Sebastian seemed to have finally collected himself.
Sabrina didn’t know how to react and the saleswoman beside her was puzzled by his sudden change of attitude. 1
"That's alright, Mr. Ford." Though slightly humiliated, the saleswoman proceeded professionally. "We would still be able to sell it if you decide not to purchase this one. Well then, let's try a different gown." The saleswoman knew better than to deny Sebastian anything he wanted and leaped into action immediately when Sebastian asked for her to get another gown. However, she was stopped one step into running off to the backroom. 1
"You've misunderstood what I meant," said Sebastian.
"Pardon me, Mr. Ford?" The saleswoman replied gingerly.
"Get her a different dress, but you will not be selling this one to someone else. Pack it up to go," Sebastian commanded casually. The emerald blue did bring out Sabrina's beauty to a hypnotizing level, but Sebastian had no intention for anyone else to lay their eyes on her with how she was looking. "Get that white dress instead," he said to the saleswoman, who was still frozen in shock.
"Oh, of course, Mr. Ford." The saleswoman snapped out of her dazed state and responded respectfully, "I shall have the lady changed into a new dress immediately."
The saleswoman led Sabrina into the changing room again and this time, she was given the white dress that Sebastian specifically asked for. The dress had mandarin collar that was decorated by a red button at the back, followed by a trail of glittering diamonds that were embroidered into the fabric across the chest. A red ribbon was tied on the waist and below the waistline was a knee-long skirt with fluffy hems. Sabrina was genuinely surprised by how much she liked the dress, it was a style that she preferred and was more comfortable in.
"Ma'am, I don't think..." The saleswoman, on the other hand, didn't seem pleased.
"What is it?" Sabrina asked.
"Nothing," the saleswoman grinned gently and said," let's go out to let Mr. Ford have a look, shall we?"
Sebastian was once again rendered speechless in awe when he saw Sabrina step out of the changing room with the help of the saleswoman. "This is it!" he said.
