Sabrina’s expression immediately became serious. "What are you afraid of?"
Eevonne just hung her head and she became a little down. Sabrina could tell that Eevonne was very nervous at that moment. After hanging out with her for more than one year, Eevonne left a very good impression on Sabrina. No matter what was the matter, as long as it was something Eevonne could resolve herself, she absolutely would not bother Sabrina with it, even though Kingston would tell Sabrina to help her every time he went out of town. However, Eevonne never asked for her help at all. That showed that this girl had great self-control and a great sense of self-awareness. She had never been willing to bother others.
However, things were different that day. Eevonne took the initiative to come looking for her and to tell her that she was very afraid. What kind of matter did Eevonne encounter? It must have been a very difficult hurdle for her to get over.
Sabrina walked up to Eevonne and wrapped a hand around her. "Eevonne, listen to me. No matter what it is, you won't be shouldering it on your own. You have friends in South City. You have me and you also have Kingston. Not only that, but you also have your family.
"Whatever trouble you've encountered, you can just tell me. We can resolve it together. Let's go. Follow me home with me."
Eevonne shook her head. She was afraid of Sebastian. At that moment, Sebastian was standing behind Aino and was looking at Eevonne without any expression on his face. Eevonne was feeling terrified. Was this the legendary Sebastian Ford? He was a middle-aged man, but he did not let himself go at all. He did not have a bulging belly at all, had a slender figure, and was very refreshed. He was very calm and collected and was exuding an incomparable might and coldness all over him.
Especially when both of his sideburns had some vaguely visible gray hair. Logically speaking, that should be a sign of someone gradually getting older. However, no matter how Eevonne viewed it, she felt that it was a kind of a symbol of a king. When she was standing in front of the richest man in South City and also the true mastermind behind the scene of the Ford Group, Eevonne's entire body was cowering.
Sebastian reminded her of the boss she had when she first made a fake diploma.
Even though that boss was not quite like Sebastian, who very much has the air of a king, he was also very cold and serious. Eevonne was already nervous and worried, to begin with, but at that moment, all of her confidence was completely crushed.
She kept glancing at Sebastian, and then she glanced at him again. Then, she spoke incoherently, "Sabrina...no, no, no, I mean, Missus Ford, I...I truly have never thought of hiding my academic qualification in the Ford Group, and I’ve never thought of hiding all of my past. I truly have never thought of it. The job that I was doing at the very beginning was just doing odd jobs. It's ...it was the director of the fashion department who saw that I was quite hardworking, so he promoted me. The director can't be blamed for this either. In fact, I'm the one to blame! It's all my fault. Maybe I kept showing off and stealing the show in front of the director, so he felt that I was quite good and then he promoted me. It's truly not the director's fault. In short...in short, Missus Ford, it's all my fault. I..."
In the end, Eevonne's mind was already a mess. She had tears welled up in her eyes, and that kind of helpless expression instantly made Sabrina feel emotional. Sabrina had also once had that kind of helpless, hopeless, and suffocating feeling.
Back then, she was in a dangerous situation in South City and she was putting everything on the line. There was no one to help her, and everybody wanted to have her killed. She felt that the people who were closing in on her from all directions were people who wanted to kill her. She felt that she was just like an ant that could be pinched to death by anybody. That kind of fear was buried deep within her heart. However, Sabrina had always had the character of a brave warrior who would charge in an unavoidable confrontation. No matter how passive and how panicked the situation was, her mind was always calm. She knew she could only charge forward. If she could charge forward with her eyes closed and not fear anything, perhaps she may be able to open up a path to survival.
