While Sebastian struggled to keep his expression in check, Alex was ecstatic at his friend's suffering and burst out laughing. He knew Sebastian better than anyone. For him to not only find a way out to survive, but also bounce back from the suppression of the entire Ford Family, Sebastian had always been one in a million in terms of abilities and determination. The four of them might not share the same family name, but had helped each other through adversity following Sebastian's lead. It had been six years, who would have thought that the infamous Sebastian Ford would finally find someone who had him by the short hairs without even trying. Alex could tell that those words that Sabrina had casually uttered expressionlessly, really seemed to have an impact on Sebastian, so much so that he couldn't find the word to retort.
"Well, Miss. Scott," Alex teased, "for an escort to be personally brought here by Sebastian, you must be insanely expensive."
"Um...thanks, I guess," Sabrina replied.
"Pfft..." Once again, Alex had lost all control over his laughter.
"Who is this chick?" Kelvin glanced over at Alex and asked.
"Who? A flytrap that our brother Sebastian got himself into, I'm afraid," Alex snorted.
The two continued to chatter with wine glasses in their hands as they observed Sebastian's reaction, both visibly excited to see how it would unfold. Kelvin might have been slightly worried that Sebastian would refuse the olive branch, but with both Alex and Martin present as his backups, he couldn't wait to see how Sebastian would make a fool of himself in front o f them. In the South City, Sebastian Ford was the symbol of power and authority that the mere mention of the name would send chills down people's spines; but what most people didn't know was that he could b e rather playful when he was in the company of his brothers from different mothers.
Just as they held their breath in hope to witness the moment when Sebastian embarrassed himself, his phone rang. When he retrieved his phone, he realized i t was a call from his stepmother.
In truth, Sebastian's stepmother meant nothing to him. She was the one pulling the strings that had led t o his mother Grace's misfortune of being seen as Sean's mistress, Sebastian couldn't possibly feel anything but resentment for the woman. But she had grown old and all three of her sons had died since, leaving her alone in this world to face the pain. Destroying the lives of helpless elderly was the least o f Sebastian's interest, as it could hardly be just. Considering that she was his stepmother after all, he still had to maintain a certain level of respect towards the woman and so he decided to pick up.
"Yes?"
"Sebastian!" The stepmother exclaimed, her tone familiar as though she was speaking to one of her own sons.
"What is it?" Sebastian responded coolly.
"Is this a good time to speak?" she deadpanned.
Sebastian looked around him before standing up from his seat and started to stride out, leaving Sabrina behind by herself.
Despite Sabrina's calm demeanor, she was silently panicking with Sebastian's exit. She had no clue as to who she might be required to leave with. She had experience being in jail, running from assassination, and had been called the skank that caused trouble in the South City elite community. But in truth, she had never worked as an escort or even anything of that nature. Sabrina's palm was damp with sweat as different thoughts crossed her mind.
