This workplace seemed to have niche and elite membership.
Nevertheless, without even turning to look at Ruth, Sabrina said to Yvonne calmly, "It's fine."
After all, she was just a person who had been captured by Sebastian and had lived every day knowing full well it could be her last.
A person like her who has nothing to lose has no reason to be afraid of the people in power.
She did not care at all. 1
Yet, when Yvonne saw Sabrina's reaction, she was speechless.
Ruth, clearly furious, roared, "You! Stand up now!"
She had shouted with such a loud and high pitched voice that the people around them started to turn their attention towards the table. Even those who were having their meals and packing food stopped whatever they were doing and kept their eyes on Sabrina.
Among them was Linda, the architectural designer whom the director had ordered to take care of Sabrina for a week.
"Hmph! Such a troublemaker. She's already causing waves on her first day of work. On top of that, she’s
even managed to piss off the 'royalty' of this company. It’s definitely bad luck for me to have to mentor this loser!" Linda said to her colleagues in a condescending manner.
"What, you have a new apprentice?” her colleague asked.
Linda replied in a mocking tone, "I'm already worried sick. Look at the way she dresses. It's old-fashioned, conservative. You can tell with a glance that she came from some nook and cranny of a remote county. I didn’t expect the director and the human resources department to be so blind. How could they recruit a woman with such terrible fashion sense to the design department?
"Even if you gave me ten years to mentor her, there's n o way that I would be able to improve a person like her.
"She’ll only waste my effort and delay my work.
"However, this is fine too. I guess she will have to pack up and leave today after the commotion created by Miss Ruth.” 1
Just as Linda was saying that, Ruth’s voice had gotten even louder. "You shameless homewrecker! Did you hear what I said? Stand up!"
