Emma's arrogant yet carefree voice sounded from the other end of the call. "Sabrina, have you eaten?"
Sabrina put down her phone for a moment and turned towards her daughter who had just finished drinking her glass of milk. She coaxed softly, "Aino, I need to take this call. In the meantime, go to the cloakroom and pick out a jacket that you like. You can show me after you put it on. Okay baby?"
"Okay! I can do a good job myself." When her father wasn't at home, Aino could be very independent, like a little adult. Her mother didn't have to worry about her at all.
After watching the little girl skip her way into the cloakroom, Sabrina picked up the phone and returned to the call. "Emma, you've thought of a better way to mess with me, right?"
Emma replied with a smile, "Well, you're a smart woman."
Sabrina continued, "Do you like Sebastian?"
"What are you talking about?!" Emma suddenly became very angry when she realised the cat was out o f the bag.
"Am I wrong?" Sabrina sneered at her.
Emma tried to maintain her calm and asked, "How do
you know that I like Sebastian?"
When she heard this, Sabrina scoffed contemptuously. "A selfish, evil and twisted woman like you sure wouldn't attack me just to avenge Selene or for your sister, let alone a nephew. You can only be doing it for yourself! Because you're jealous that I'm Sebastian's woman, right?" 1
Sabrina's flurry of words seemed to shock Emma.
After a moment of silence, she retorted, "So what? You can't even protect yourself, so why should you have the free time to be making assumptions about me?"
Sabrina replied flatly, "I don't care about what you're trying to do. I only need to know how vicious you are, s o that I can remind Sebastian to protect his daughter!"
"You... Sabrina, are you threatening me?" Emma asked angrily, her tone clearly sounding envious.
Sabrina continued without remorse, "Threatening? I'm just a piece of meat that can be cut open on a chopping board. What right do I have to threaten anyone? I'm right here if you want to kill me, but if you dare touch my daughter, Emma, I'll show you what someone with nothing to lose is capable of doing!"
