Sean choked and came close to suffocating from Sebastian's words. He took a minute to recover before questioning sharply, "So you are saying that you want t o make a public announcement to the entire city with regards to your marriage with Sabrina?"
"I already did," Sebastian deadpanned.
"About the wedding date, though, I will pick out another date for that," Sebastian added.
"Getting married is such an important affair, do you intend on excluding everyone here in the old residence including your grandparents, your stepmother and I?"
"Didn't I already bring Sabrina back to the old residence half a month ago and inform all of you?
Grandmother even gave Sabrina those Chrismatite bracelets, which were supposed to be our family heirloom. You aren't even seventy yet, Father, are you already experiencing dementia?"
"Why you...!" Sean's voice was cut off for a moment as he struggled to remain calm. "Sure, you did inform close family members, but what about relatives and friends? You are the only heir to the Ford Family, the man who runs the Ford Group. Don't you think you need to inform them as well when it comes to something as important as getting married?"
Sean was coughing furiously in between words. He knew that one day, he was going to get a heart attack and die because of his only remaining son. But Sebastian was the person who was paying for the food on their table and the one who hired the servants to look after four of the elderly at home. He seemed to have done anything that was required of a son, except for the love they were supposed to share as a family. Sean felt helpless and frustrated for the lack of affection Sebastian had for him, but deep down, he also understood that there was nothing he could do.
"Isn't it your responsibility as an elder to contact relatives and friends?" Sebastian retorted.
"Are you saying that you would bring Sabrina home and introduce her to them if we did?"
"Sabrina is the eldest daughter-in-law of the Ford Family, why wouldn't she come?"
Sean suddenly realized that he had been tricked by Sebastian and gritted out, "I haven't even accepted her as my daughter-in-law!"
"She doesn't need your approval. She is already the Mrs. Director of the Ford Group; a public announcement had been made last night through the Ford Group's official social media account," said Sebastian in a calm tone.
"You...you are going to be the death of me someday! I a m not going to contact anyone to acknowledge Sabrina!" Sean roared.
"Great!"
Once again, Sean felt as though he had been tricked when Sebastian seemed to be waiting for him to say that. He then realized that whether members of the old Ford residence admitted Sebastian's marriage to Sabrina had little to no effect on the couple. Sebastian didn't care much for the recognition to begin with. Had Sean decided to accept Sabrina and contact the relatives in his place, he could seize the opportunity to announce Sabrina as his wife in order to reinforce her identity and status as the young Mistress of the Ford Family; if Sean refused to do so, that would also save Sebastian a lot of work. Either way, Sebastian was the one who would benefit from it.
The realization immediately sent Sean into a storm of anger, still, he swiftly started to call each and every relative or family friend to inform them of the new development as soon as he hung up.
Meanwhile, Sebastian did not bother himself over what his father might do. None of those concerned him. The only thing he wanted most at the time was t o finish work and head home. 1
For the entire afternoon, Sebastian, who was known to be focused when reviewing contracts in meetings, was somewhat dazed with a faint smile on his face.
