"That bumpkin works way faster than those middleage helpers out there, she is young and obedient. Have you ever heard a word coming out of her mouth the entire day so far. She just kind of runs errands for us buying lunch, milk tea, snacks and stuff, isn't that great?"
"I guess, but that face of hers is just too seductive. Haven't you realized that she looks prettier than both o f us?" i
"Pretty my ass! Haven't you seen what she has been wearing? She wore the same outfit three days in a row, I bet the clothes on her don't even cost above fifty bucks!" i
"Hehe, hush! Here she comes."
The people in the office immediately stopped their gossiping as soon as they saw Sabrina approaching. Sabrina had heard every single word, but she simply didn't care. Nothing mattered to her other than having a job and getting paid. She tidied up her belongings and remained silent for the rest of the day. She left the office the minute her shift was over and headed to Grace's ward to keep her company. Sabrina's heart was heavy with sorrow, watching as Grace grew thinner with each day. The relationship between Sebastian and her might be based on a contract, but she truly thought of Aunt Grace as the only family she
had left in this world. To watch as the light of life faded from Aunt Grace had her heart filled with bitterness that was beyond words, and soon, a tear dropped from Sabrina's eye while she was chatting with Grace.
"Oh, child, why are you crying?"
"Mother..." Sabrina threw herself into Grace's waiting arms and begged, "mother, please don't die? If you are gone, I won't have anyone left in this world anymore..."
"What nonsense, you still have Sebastian and your future children. You will live a happy and fruitful life, do you understand? Oh, my silly little girl," Grace consoled.
Sabrina balled up in Grace's arms and nodded frantically. "Mother, I promise. I am going to come visit you every single day with delicious food and fresh flowers from now on," she mumbled. What she did not say out loud was that she also promised herself that she would buy Grace the best looking bouquet and goods to be interred with Grace when she passed. And to fulfill her promises, she needed that ten thousand dollars. 1
