At that moment, Sebastian simply stood there with a stoic expression, as if being worshipped by a thousand people.
Sabrina quickly turned her head towards the man standing outside her window. With a curl of her lips and a faint smile, she said, "Hello."
"Madam, we weren't aware that you had returned to your hometown. I hope you'll forgive us for the inconvenience we have caused you," the man apologized with a sincere tone.
Sabrina pursed her lips and replied, "It's fine."
"Madam, we'll stop the construction for now. We found a crew that specialises in unearthing graves for you. They should be here soon.
"We’ll work on retrieving your father's remains first, before finding a proper burial spot. Naturally, we'll make sure that you're satisfied with the location. Also, regarding the compensation for demolishing your house as well as your father's grave...
"We’d like to offer you one million. What do you think? If that's not enough, we can always add more."
Sabrina was left utterly speechless when she heard this.
She had never been one to extort others.
When she first came here, Sabrina never thought about asking for any form of compensation for her house's demolition. Her one and only goal was to retrieve the remains of her parents.
After all, both the village and house here had not given her any good memories.
The humiliation that their family of three suffered here far outweighed their moments of joy.
Back when he was still alive, Sabrina's father would always say to her and her mother, "If it wasn't for my legs, I would’ve brought the two of you away already. The three of us would never come back, we’d never step foot in this place ever again!”
Sabrina was aware that her parents had not stayed here willingly just to endure being insulted by the other villagers.
As such, she decided to move her father to a cemetery i n South City, so that he could rest in a much better environment. That way, Sabrina could also bring Aino and Sebastian to visit him whenever they were free.
With that in mind, she said softly, "Back when my father was still alive, our neighbour, Granduncle Scott, was one of the few people who treated him well. He is a very honest person, so I hope that you'll provide assistance to him in the future.
