A blush spread across her cheeks. When she was done changing into a new set of clothes, she walked out of the bedroom and headed to the dining room, but still, Sebastian was nowhere in sight.
Seeing her, Aunt Lewis said, "Madam, Sir left for the office more than an hour ago. He seems particularly busy these days."
"Yeah, it's fine." Sabrina turned and walked to the balcony. The balcony was filled with various species o f potted plants, all of them green and lush with life. Taking advantage of the spare time before breakfast, Sabrina tended to the plants. Once again, she was reminded of her mother. Even though they had been poor, her mother had green fingers and loved plants. I n the past, Sabrina could never figure out why her mother was so different from the other women in the village, even though she was just another poverty-stricken villager?
Her mother could play the piano well. She loved nature too. She even loved to wash Sabrina’s hair with water soaked in Jasmine flowers. Her mother was a knowledgeable woman. In the past, Sabrina couldn’t understand it, but now she knew why. Alas, because o f her newfound knowledge, she felt even more disgusted at Old Master Shaw. She found him repulsive and sickening.
In the office, Sabrina put down her bag and went to the director's office.
When Marcus saw Sabrina, the surprised delight on his face was obvious. "Sabbie, are you here to see me?"
"Director Shaw, could you please convey my words to Old Master Shaw, and ask him to keep his distance away from me. Whether it’s to cause trouble, or anything else. I never want to see him again, for the rest of my life,” Sabrina replied calmly.
Marcus sighed. "Sabrina, you...why do you hate my grandfather so much?"
Sabrina shook her head. "Forgive me for being blunt, it has nothing to do with hate. I just find him sickening, from the bottom of my heart. I don't want to have anything to do with him for the rest of my life."
"Why! If you are indeed who we think you are, then he’s your biological..."
"That's impossible!" Sabrina interrupted him. "Director Shaw, if my memory serves me right, you've told me multiple times that your grandfather cares about his granddaughter so much because your aunt has been living with her stepmother since she was child. Your grandfather never cared about her. Later, he found out that your aunt wasn’t born to her stepmother, but was instead your grandmother's biological daughter. Only then did he feel guilty for mistreating her, am I right?"
Marcus felt deeply ashamed. "That...that's right."
"That's why!" Sabrina scoffed. "How would you know whether your aunt wants to return to this family? How would you know whether your cousins would want to belong to this family? He only reached out to his daughter, to his granddaughter when he felt guilty. What about when he didn't feel guilty? And did he ever feel guilty toward that step-mother, toward his mistress?"
Marcus was silent, he had never considered this before. All he wanted was to fulfil his grandfather's wish and to find his aunt.
Sabrina barked out a cold laugh and left.
At that moment, her phone rang. She took a look at the incoming number and answered immediately. " Ruth, why didn't you come to work the last two days?"
Hearing her friend's answer, Sabrina's expression instantly darkened. "What...what did you say?"
