The old Master Shaw was instantly relieved. "Are you going to tell me that that kid Ryan is going on a date with you?"
"Yes, Grandpa Shaw!" Mindy replied proudly.
Pleased with the news, the old Master Shaw said," Good, let's set the venue for your date at Grandpa Shaw's house. Just think of it as a casual meal."
"Okay, anything you say," she said, before pausing for a moment and suggesting, "Grandpa Shaw, I want to invite a few socialites who used to be close with me over as well! They all avoided me ever since Sebastian ordered to cut me off, so I want them to see that, even though Nigel broke up with me, I still managed to attract the interest of the young Master of Kidon City! This is the day I shine, Grandpa Shaw! From now on, one of your granddaughters will marry into the Poole family, while the other will marry Sebastian Ford. You are going to be the old man that holds the highest power in all of South City and Kidon City!" 1
The elderly man was grinning from ear to ear at her words. He agreed joyfully, "Of course, of course.
Grandpa will invite those socialites who stepped all over you so that they can see for themselves how well my Mindy marries!"
"Duh!" Mindy was extremely confident that Ryan was already her boyfriend at this point. The reason behind
her confidence was that Ryan's response to her invitation was simply far too flirtatious. After hanging up on the call with the old Master Shaw, she turned to look at Mr. and Mrs. Mann, all the while rubbing her hands together to contain her excitement.
"Uncle, Auntie, Master Ryan agreed to go on a date with me. He asked me what kind of restaurant I like and what kind of gift I want. I think he really likes me."
Mrs. Mann looked at Mindy adoringly, "Our Mindy grew up under the wings of the Shaw family; the elegance and nobility in your demeanor are something that little skank Ruth cannot even begin to compare to. Master Ryan is the young master of Kidon City; it's not like he is blind. He can’t be that stupid, so of course he is interested in our darling Mindy. Isn't that right, Daddy?"
Mr. Mann, on the other hand, felt slightly guilty. "That ... They are still my brother and sister-in-law."
"What are you talking about? You useless man!" Mrs. Mann stared daggers at her husband.
Mindy, too, glared at him. "Hmph!"
"Don't get mad!" Mr. Mann immediately forced a smile. "Let's withdraw the money so that Mindy can go shopping. One million should be enough. Mindy, watch where you spend. You can't get Master Ryan's family to like you without giving yourself the appearance of a noble lady. You are going to be the most beautiful girl in the room. Let Master Ryan know that the twenty years you lived as Lady Shaw had not gone to waste. Don't hesitate in spending this one million! If this can help you into marrying Master Ryan, then it's money well spent!" 1
Never did it occur to Mr. Mann that the one million they had was traded with their own daughter. The couple could think of nothing but how the money could help Mindy shine, and indeed, they were right. Mindy took the one million to the most luxurious shop in South City, Sloane, and bought her favorite gown. The gown was lake blue in color with a similar style a s the dress Sabrina wore before. There were small diamonds glittering over the chest area and when Mindy put it on, she was truly shining. Mindy stared a t her reflection in the mirror and once again, she had regained every last strand of her confidence.
She smirked at her reflection. "I am going to rise from where I fell! I might not be an expert in cursing like a madwoman on the street, but when it comes down to making an appearance in high-class venues and socializing with top-ranked elites, tens and hundreds of Ruths can come at me and still lose!"
That afternoon, Mindy showed up at the Shaw residence proudly. It had been a while since she last came to the Shaw residence, mainly because she was forbidden to do so by Sebastian.
Had she openly disobeyed, she might be affected in many ways. Even her aunt, who wanted to support her by passing her some cash in secret, could not do so. But things were different.
