When Vivian looked up at Luna, Luna had already concealed the irritation in her eyes. Luna was the considerate, protective older sister Vivian knew.
Vivian didn't read into it, but frustration bubbled up within her. "Why, Luna? The marks on my body are fading. A bit of concealer can cover them, and they're nearly invisible without it."
She had stayed home for days to hide the love bites on her neck. This morning, seeing the marks almost gone, Luna told her that Nancy would take over the shooting, kicking her out of the film. Anybody would be upset by this.
Watching Vivian's outburst, Luna shook her head but replied calmly, "Vivi, it's mainly because of Nancy. She's shown off her pool skills on set, even challenging Samuel Wright. Not to mention the curious men in the crew. If..."
She paused, and offered a comforting smile, "If they want a game with her after shooting, you'd be exposed, wouldn't you?"
"No..."
Vivian shot up, sat next to Luna, and clutched her hands in panic, "Luna, it's not like that. I don't have to accept every challenge. I can ignore them, or I can refuse..."
Luna's eyes finally showed a hint of mockery, "What if it's Young Master Firth? He stepped in to help Nancy today. Everyone has seen her pool skills. If Young Master Firth wanted a game with you, could you say no?"
"I..."
Vivian's hands fell weakly from Luna's. She lowered her eyes, wanting to assert she could refuse, but could she dare?
At the banquet, she had a close encounter with Charlie. His aloof demeanor and powerful aura had her unable to refuse even a simple drink, let alone a pool game.
Even though she is from Mirren family, brimming with confidence, when compared to Charlie, she feels like a small fish in a big pond. His aura was so overpowering that she found herself barely uttering a word in his presence.
Seeing her silence, Luna sighed deeply, her voice heavy with concern. "Vivi, I'm saying this for your own good. Before you switch places with Nancy, make sure there are no slip-ups. If Young Master Firth finds out about this substitution plan of yours, do you think he would let you and the Mirren Family off?"
Vivian's heart pounded in her chest at Luna's words, the thought of Charlie's fury sending shivers down her spine.
Yes, if Charlie found out about this, she'd have to face not just his wrath, but also the storm from the Mirren Family.
And yet...
With teary eyes, she looked up at Luna, her voice shaky with apprehension. "Luna, even if I replace Nancy in the end, I can't play pool or race cars. What if Charlie asks me to do those things...?"
"Are you stupid?"
Luna shot her a stern glare, unable to hide her frustration. "Once you and Charlie are married, even if he finds out, what can he do? As long as you keep him happy during sex, he'll move mountains for you. Do you think he'd even consider going against your wishes?"
