She knew Sean would not want her, let alone have much to do with her life. Perhaps after the slum's issues were dealt with, Sean would never come to this place again, and they would never see each other again.
She and Sean were from the same city but seemed to live in two different worlds. They were so far away that they could not meet.
However, she still felt upset.
She felt an urge to cry but did not cry out loud. However, beads of tears kept falling from her face.
Just then, faint sparks lit up ahead.
Someone was smoking.
Yvonne took a closer look and found three thug-like young men smoking next to a pile of rubble.
It was already late, and the slum was not filled with entertainment centers like downtown. With three young men suddenly gathering and smoking here, they must not be nice people.
Therefore, Yvonne pretended she had not noticed them and prepared to retrace her steps.
However, she had turned around and taken two steps when the three young men came after her.
"Hey, little girl, where are you going? It's late. Are you not afraid of being caught by bad men by going out alone?"
"What's your name? Tell me. I'll play with you."
"What's with all the nonsense? Just take her away. Let's go to that abandoned building there, and all three of us can have a good time."
That last statement made Yvonne turn pale and run for her life.
However, there was no way a little girl like her could outrun three young men.
The three young men soon caught up and surrounded her.
"What... What are you gonna do? I'm warning you. I know the city defense army's commander-in-chief, Sean. Commander Lennon won't go easy on you if you try anything!"
