Zander took Dwayne to the commander-in-chief's office.

Once he entered the office, Dwayne nodded and bowed before obsequiously cottoning up to Sean.

Sean did not take kindly to Dwayne. He asked directly, "I heard Onyx Dragon Gang is vaguely involved with the sheriff's department. You even defended Onyx Dragon Gang. Is that true?"

Dwayne's expression immediately changed as he shook his head violently.

"No! Definitely no! Commander Lennon, I don't know where you heard this rumor, but it's outrageous! Someone created this rumor. It's all made up."

"Oh, tell me what's going on then."

Sean was asked calmly.

Dwayne pulled out two envelopes, respectfully put them on Sean's desk, and spoke.

"Commander Lennon, here's what happened. Two of our sheriffs in the sheriff's department are indeed involved with Onyx, the head of Onyx Dragon Gang, so Onyx told everyone that he knew people in the sheriff's department and that the sheriff's department has his back, but it was only the two sheriffs in the sheriff's department who are close with him."

"Mayor Lewis asked me about it earlier, and I found out about it after looking into it. I'm so angry. I didn't expect anyone in the sheriff's department to be associated with criminal organizations! So I fired those two sheriffs. These are their files. You can have a look at them."

Sean opened the envelopes, flipped through them, and set them aside.

He did not think it was that simple. Maybe the two sheriffs were just scapegoats put up by the sheriff's department.

However, now that all the blame had been placed on these two sheriffs, there was nothing Sean could say. Besides, the city defense army's commander-in-chief did not have authority over the sheriff's department. It was under Mayor Quentin's jurisdiction.
