Sweet Mischief's Rollercoaster Romance novel Chapter 285

Mr. Kendrick got a few calls from his sister later on, but knowing her all too well, he didn’t pick up.

After this whole ordeal, his parents decided to head back to their hometown, and no amount of persuasion could make them stay. As they were leaving, Grandma Aubree held Molly’s hand and said, “Molly, sweetie, take care of your mother for me, okay?”

Molly’s eyes welled up with tears, “Grandma, can't you and grandpa just stay? If you don’t want to live with my parents, I can buy you a house in Havenbrook.”

“I know you mean well, dear, but we’re used to our way of life back home. We've decided to go back.” Grandma Aubree said. Grandma Aubree knew that given her daughter's nature, she would surely stir up trouble again. If they stayed, there might be endless drama. Best let their son and his family live in peace.

Later, Molly returned to the Cedillo family because when she called her father one night, she heard him coughing and was worried he might be sick.

When Hansen learned of why his daughter came back, he was touched but also a bit embarrassed, “Honey, I just choked on some water that day, that’s why I was coughing. I’m not sick.”

Molly, "Dad, be careful when you drink water, okay?"

"Sure, sweetheart." Hansen said.

Upon hearing about the drama with the Byrne family, Hansen told Molly gently, “Molly, go back and keep your mom company.”

Molly didn’t stay overnight with the Cedillo family and went back home that same day.

Andre's vacation was over and he went back to work. Mia was still on holiday, maintaining her late-night routine of working out.

Chad also returned to his job.

The Marshal Group managed to weather the financial crisis, and after Christmas, they raised 5 billion from outside sources. In the country, the Marshal Group was in talks with high-ranking government officials. That official happened to be the Mastin family's backup, Mr. Marlow.

Chad called Andre to share his investigation results, “Officer Rubin is Mr. Marlow's protégé.”

Andre responded, “So Mr. Marlow is the bigwig behind Officer Rubin. He must have been the one who saved him."

Chad looked at the files on his desk and told Andre straightforwardly, “The cops are only working on the case based on my initial assessment. The evidence we have now isn’t enough to nab Officer Rubin. The Marshal family has regained their strength and is now protecting Officer Rubin. Mr. Marlow ranks higher than my dad, so my dad can’t do anything to him. If we can’t deal with Officer Rubin this time, we might never get a chance later.”

Andre understood what Chad was asking. He said, “I can put pressure on the Marshal family in business, make it impossible for them to regain their strength, and buy us some time.”

Chad said, “Thanks.”

Chad needed to stop Mr. Marlow's interference and the Marshal family's protection to capture Officer Rubin while fending off Rubin's cunning tactics. If Andre could help him pressure the Marshal family, then Mr. Marlow would be too preoccupied to protect Officer Rubin.

This way, Andre would successfully suppress the Marshal family and Mr. Marlow. All Chad had to deal with was Officer Rubin. This was a big favor.

Andre said, “Don’t mention it. I have my own reasons too.”

Not long after Christmas, the Marshal Group held a signing ceremony. The Marshal Group and Morris Corporation were planning to sign a cooperation agreement worth 300 million. As this was a significant contract, the Marshal family held the signing ceremony at their company and invited many reporters to capture the moment.

Meanwhile, Brian had prepared a speech, wanting to show everyone that even under the pressure from the Cedillo family, they could still stand tall.

The signing ceremony began on time. Brian first gave a lengthy speech before moving on to the most important part, the signing. The room was silent as everyone got ready to take pictures.

Suddenly, just as they were about to sign, the representative of Morris Corporation received a call, “Mr. Morris, go ahead.” After hearing what the other person said, the representative said, “We haven't started signing yet. It's in progress.”
