Sweet Mischief's Rollercoaster Romance novel Chapter 339

Molly shook her head, "I was definitely going to head home. I just got too engrossed in my game and lost track of time."

"Just keep getting lost in your game then."

Molly squeezed Chad tight, "Nah, can't do that. My favorite brother isn't in the game. Wherever my brother is, that's where I'll be."

Everyone in the room knew that Chad, the captain of the Havenbrook detective squad, had arrived and was giving Molly a piece of his mind at the entrance.

And everyone came out to enjoy the show.

What they saw though, was Chad getting a bear hug from his sister, followed by Molly whispering sweet nothings into his ear?

"Chad, I didn't cause any big trouble today, just got home a bit late. I didn't give you any extra headache. Don't be mad okay? I love you the most. Don't be mad, because when you're mad, I get scared."

Chad couldn't take it anymore. He barked, "Hands off!"

Molly wouldn't let go, "If you promise not to hit me, I'll let go." She was always like this, persistent and good at getting what she wanted.

Chad just stared at her in silence.

Frightened, Molly let go. As Chad raised his hand to hit her, she quickly scrambled to the passenger seat of the car.

Chad's raised hand clenched into a fist and withdrew.

Jack stepped up to Chad and extended his hand, "Nice to meet you, Chad. I'm Jack Ashford."

Chad shot a hostile look at the man in front of him and didn't return the handshake, "Mr. Ashford, it would be best if you kept your distance from my sister in the future."

Jack tried to stare down Chad, who was about his age. But Chad's position of authority cast a formidable aura that made Jack back down.

"Mr. Byrne, I would like to pursue Molly."

Chad didn't mince his words, "Neither you nor your family are good enough for her!"

Then he got in the car and drove off, leaving everyone to watch as the car slowly descended the hill.

As Chad's car disappeared from sight, Jack's eyebrows furrowed. Chad was investigating him!

On the road, Chad raised his hand to smack Molly, who was misbehaving. Molly flinched in fear.

Chad glanced at the frightened Molly next to him, and his raised hand fell again. Clearly, he couldn't bring himself to hit her, and ended up just fuming in silence.

Molly sneaked a peek at her brooding brother and bit her lip. She stayed quiet for a while before whispering, "Mom mentioned you and me when we shared a bed last night."

"Speak up, I can't hear you," Chad said, irritated.

Molly pursed her lips, then spoke up, "Mom said we're too close for siblings. We're more like lovers. She's worried that my feelings for you might become romantic, so she suggested that I get out more and make more friends. Not to always stick with blood relatives, but to befriend people who aren't related to us. When someone shows interest in me, I shouldn't reject them outright. I should get to know them first, and maybe even date them if we click. That's why I accepted Mr. Jack's invitation today."

Molly's words had a slight edge of anger to them.

Chad fell silent.

He pulled the car over halfway and turned off the engine. He turned to look at Molly, who was fuming next to him, "So, you knew he was into you before you accepted his invitation?"

Molly could feel Chad's rage intensifying. She shot a glance at the man next to her, who was seething, and said softly, "I wasn't sure before, but today confirmed it."
