Naomi's brow furrowed, "Andre, something happened at home."
Three minutes later, Andre got an idea of what happened. The smile on his face disappeared, and the warmth in his eyes directed at his young wife was replaced by a steely glint.
His brow furrowed, his gazes cold as ice. He stood up, his tall figure striding over to the window, looking down at the brilliant lights of the foreign city beneath the hundred-story building.
"Does Mia know about this?" he asked.
Naomi replied, “They asked the kids to leave before they left.”
Considering Mia's personality, Andre figured that if she saw the police, she would definitely become suspicious. If she became suspicious, how could she obediently stay out of it? “Naomi, Mia and Leo already know,” Andre plainly stated the fact.
Naomi blinked in confusion. “But I saw them leave with my own eyes.”
Andre rubbed his temples, looking down at the hustle and bustle of the city below, everything shrunken as if he could hold it all in the palm of his hand. No matter how capable he was or how much he could control, there was one young wife he just couldn’t keep in check.
Andre told Naomi, “The focus right now is not on our family. Dad and big brother have gone to the police station to explain what happened. Don’t worry. I’ll send someone over later to find out more. You just keep an eye on Mia and Leo at home.”
Thinking of her husband being taken away, Naomi’s heart was a mess. “Andre, do you think your brother could be framed? That's what happened to Dad years ago, and he was under investigation for more than half a year.”
She was worried her husband would follow the same path as her father-in-law. Once he was suspended and investigated, even if there was nothing wrong, things could go awry over time.
Remembering the past, Andre scoffed, "No."
Perhaps affected by Andre's commanding presence, Naomi seemed less worried than before.
“Naomi, I’ll hang up now. I need to talk to Mia.”
Thinking about hat little girl, Andre's head started to throb again. What worried Andre the most when he was away was his dainty little wife back home. Whenever something happened, the first thing that came to his mind was how best to take care of his young wife.
Having returned to the bedroom, Mia sat at the foot of the bed and then fell backward onto it. Her two legs were left dangling off the side, swinging casually. As Andre's video call came through, Mia lifted both hands, tapping the accept button. Then, her handsome husband popped up on her screen. Mia looked at her husband with a beaming smile, "Honey. Missing me again?"
Andre got straight to the point, "You can't meddle in what's happening with Dad and big brother. Remember the 'five don'ts' you promised me. If you don't behave, I'll give the present I prepared for you to someone else."
Mia blinked in confusion. Wait, why was he threatening her already? He hadn't even asked her if she knew what was going on yet? She glanced to the side with her innocent eyes, pretending to be clueless, "Honey, I don't understand what you're saying."
Andre looked at his mischievous wife in the video and said, "Drop the act."
Mia pouted, complaining, "But I really have no idea."
Andre gazed at his beloved wife on the screen, "Mia, I know you better than anyone. The situation with Dad and Leo is not something you should be involved in. Don't cause trouble. We'll sort it out when I get home."
Mia thought to herself: You said the same thing last time, but I still didn't behave.
Andre added, "If you don't behave, I'll have Dad take you back to your parents' house for a few days, until I can come home and pick you up."
Mia shook her head, "No, I can't go back. With big brother and Dad not at home, I need to stay and keep Naomi company. I have to wait for my dear husband at home. Besides, our son is very particular about his sleeping environment. If he doesn't sleep in the bed his father slept in, he'll kick me in the stomach all night."
Andre sighed. She was using their son as an excuse again. Was their son really that capable now?
"Mia, don't be stubborn," Andre said, away from home, but his heart was still home. He didn't have the heart to scold her, so he had no choice but try to persuade her.
Mia angrily hung up on her husband's video call, mumbling, "Hmph, I don't want to listen to you anymore. You're no fun."
Andre, on the receiving end of the hang-up, was speechless. One should really not spoil their wife too much.
