Sweet Mischief's Rollercoaster Romance novel Chapter 419

On the way back to the police station, Chad made a call to his colleague. “Did you manage to sort out all the documents?”

Donnie glanced at the heap of documents on the table. “Chad, why don’t you hang a sign on the door that says ‘No Molly Allowed’?”

Chad chuckled. “If a sign were enough to stop her, she wouldn’t be my sister.”

Donnie’s relationship with Chad was a complex one. He admired him, feared him, but also didn’t hesitate to tease him. “Chad, I think you got what you deserved. You spoiled your sister too much, so now you have to deal with the consequences.”

Chad laughed lightly. His mind drifted back to the unfinished sentence his sister had left hanging.

To find her inside? Really?

That silly girl dared to say something like that in front of their mother. Was she trying to scare her?

No matter how much Molly infuriated Chad, he could never vent his anger at her. She would cling to him, crying and screaming in pain even before he could lay a hand on her. How could he hit her then?

And if he tried to scold her, she would always have a comeback.

To hit her? He couldn’t. To scold her? He couldn’t win.

“It’s my fault for spoiling her. It’s only fair that I have to deal with the consequences,” Chad sighed.

Donnie, in his simplicity, didn’t quite catch the undertone of Chad’s words. He simply agreed. “You’re definitely not as lucky as Bruce and Andre. You are an older brother, but Molly only gives you a hard time.”

Chad chuckled again. Andre might not necessarily be luckier than him. While his own sister had a sharp tongue, Andre’s wife was even more formidable when it came to her fists.

“Focus on sorting out the documents first. I’ll be there in about ten minutes.”

After hanging up, Donnie resigned himself to the task of sorting out the mountain of case files. “A089, where’s the corresponding file…” He muttered under his breath as he searched.

When Chad arrived at the office, he too began sifting through the documents.

“Chad, Molly doesn’t usually rummage through your files. What made her start today?” Donnie asked curiously.

Thinking of his sister who seemed hell-bent on giving him a hard time, Chad lied, “She probably got bored waiting for me and decided to help clean up. She must have stumbled upon these interesting cases and had a look.”

Donnie responded, “... that’s pretty dumb.”

Chad shook his head helplessly. As he organized the documents, he also revisited the details of each case, looking for any clues he might have missed.

In the morning, Leo woke up to find the house empty of his aunts and uncle. He stood on the porch, stretching happily. “What a beautiful day! Looks like lady luck is finally shining on me.”

Naomi called him out, “Stop daydreaming and come down for breakfast. After that, you’ll accompany me to check on your aunt.”

Leo retorted, “It’s pointless. She definitely hasn’t gotten out of bed yet.”

“How would you know?”

Leo spoke the truth, “She’s always been lazy. Whenever she goes back to her mother’s, she sleeps till ten.”

Naomi expressed her concern, “How can she be so irregular with her sleeping patterns? She’s pregnant! I need to call Mia.”
