The butler said, “Mr. Andre seems to have found something. He’s keeping a close watch on Mia.”
Hansen’s eyes suddenly lit up.
These past few days, Mia was grateful for Naomi. Only when Naomi called her to go out would Mia be free. If it had not been for Naomi having to accompany her husband when he came home in the evening, Mia would have spent her nights with Naomi, too.
Instead, Andre directly grabbed his young wife by her thin arm and led her back to the master bedroom.
Mia turned her head, looking back at Naomi with longing. Naomi covered her mouth to stifle a laugh. She was suddenly needed by her sister-in-law. What was going on at home?
Normally, Mia would joke around with her husband. She would hide, and Andre would seek her out. Once he found her, she would willingly give him a kiss, adding a bit of spice into Andre’s otherwise dull life. But when Andre was busy with work, Mia would hardly move around. She knew not to disturb her husband.
She was very perceptive; she knew when to act playful and cute, and when to be sensible. Of course, there were times when she would frustrate Andre to the point where he would rub his temples in exasperation.
“Mia, stop messing around.”
“Mia, behave.”
“Don’t run around. Come here, into my arms.”
“Mia, come here. It’s time for your nap.”
...
Every day, Andre would have a headache. His pregnant wife would run around his desk. If it had not been for the fact that she was carrying their child, he would have thought of her as a child who never grew up. She was not looking like she was about to become a mother at all.
Until the time came...
Mia had calculated Holly’s prenatal check-up. It was based on the timing of their previous coincidental meetings, and the fact that Holly was a few weeks ahead in her pregnancy. Mia was waiting.
After being “escorted” by her husband for three days, Mia started to show a glint of cunning in her eyes.
In the office, Mia finished her cup of water and looked at her husband who was engrossed in his work. She got up, held her empty cup, straightened her back and walked out of the office in front of her husband.
Andre had gotten used to Mia’s presence in his office, and her occasional trips to the pantry to sneak some snacks. So, this time, he didn’t pay much attention to her leaving.
Once Mia left, she headed straight for the elevator. Instead of taking her husband’s private lift, she took the staff elevator downstairs.
Leo’s car was already waiting at the entrance. Soon, a pregnant lady who had narrowly escaped detection hopped in. Curious, Leo asked, “How did you manage to escape my uncle’s all-seeing eyes?”
Mia replied, “Just hurry up and drive before I’m found out.”
Leo drove to the Chade Inc. building, picked up Molly, and headed west. On the way, Mia got off the car to buy something. When she got back into the car, she looked at Molly, who was clearly nervous. She handed the item she bought to Molly. “Here, this will give you some courage.”
Molly looked at the item. It was a small knife. She looked at Mia. “I feel safer with you holding it. Don’t get out of the car unless I call you. If anything goes wrong, Leo, you drive away with her immediately.”
Leo tightened his grip on the steering wheel. “If you say that again, I’m turning around and going back.”
Neither of the girls responded.
In the CEO’s office at Cedillo Inc., Andre was halfway through his work when he suddenly felt like something was missing. He looked up and saw the messy pillows scattered on the sofa, but the person who was supposed to be there was nowhere to be found!
He got up and walked out of his office.
At the maternity hospital parking lot.
A luxury car pulled up. Leo unbuckled his seatbelt and turned to look at the two girls in the back seat. “I’m going to the restroom. I’ll be right back. The AC is on, so don’t get out of the car.” After saying that, Leo left with his phone.
Mia looked around and then turned to look at Molly who had been quiet the whole trip. “Nervous?”
