2:00 PM.
An unusual case landed at the police station.
Mars tugged at Easton, "Do you recognize me?"
Easton squinted at Mars, "You look familiar."
Mars tried again, "Do you know who Roberto Arrowood is?"
Easton’s eyes widened. "Wait, you're Lord Mars!"
Mars, still sweating, nodded. "Finally, we can communicate. Just now, on the main road, your guys didn't investigate or ask questions. They just confiscated our IDs and brought us here. Do we look like child traffickers to you?"
Easton, who had cracked the Vivian case last time and was Chad’s colleague, had received a call from a concerned citizen about suspected child trafficking. Without hesitation, he dispatched officers to the scene. Anything involving kids was a big deal.
When they arrived, they didn’t listen to explanations and just brought everyone in for questioning. So, four distinguished gentlemen ended up at the police station because of a crying baby.
"Mars, what's going on?" Easton knew these upper-class folks. Child trafficking seemed far-fetched.
Mars pointed at Henry, now quiet in Teddy's arms, gnawing on his little hand. "This is our godson. Just because he loves to cry, people thought we couldn’t take care of him, and some bystanders assumed we’d kidnapped him."
Easton looked at the adorable Henry lying in Teddy's arms, his chubby face incredibly endearing. When they first arrived, Henry’s loud crying had tugged at their hearts. Ironically, he only wanted his godfathers to hold him, crying even louder when anyone else tried.
"What are his parents' names, and do you have his birth certificate? We need to notify his parents to come in for verification. The law doesn't care about status," Easton said earnestly.
Mars, irritated, sat down. "His dad is Andre, his mom is Mia. Call his dad."
Easton was taken aback. "What?"
Mars sighed. "Yes, my godson is little Leo from the Cedillo family. His dad is that Andre."
Easton quickly instructed his apprentice, "Go next door, see if Officer Chad is busy, and ask him to come verify his nephew."
Chad was reviewing a case file when a team member rushed in, flustered. "Officer Chad, your nephew seems to be in our department. Can you come verify his identity?"
"My nephew?" Chad leaned back, wondering which nephew it could be. Suddenly, he thought of Leo, his grandnephew. "What happened to Leo?"
It couldn't possibly be his little nephew, Henry. He couldn’t crawl or walk yet, and it wasn’t time for him to cause any trouble. Besides, Mia was taking an exam, and his aunt was at work. Chad dismissed the idea of his adorable little nephew causing any issues.
"A bystander reported, suspecting your nephew was being trafficked."
Officer Chad was bewildered. "Leo being trafficked? Hmm?"
When Chad, in his uniform, arrived next door, he immediately looked for Leo but was surprised by the four men he saw. Suddenly, a little figure caught his eye.
Tentatively, he called out, "Henry?"
Henry turned at the sound of his name, now recognizing it. Chad walked over and took a closer look. It was his little nephew!
Chad picked up the sweaty Henry, who graciously raised his little arms, affectionately allowing his uncle to hug him.
