Andre slipped into the car, immediately enveloped by its cozy warmth. It's funny how people always yearn for what they don't have. When it's blazing hot in the summer, they crave the crisp chill of winter, and when winter's icy grip takes hold, they dream of the searing summer sun.

Mia was definitely missing the warmth of home. At least there, she wouldn't be shivering so hard her teeth felt like they might chatter loose.

When Molly called to check in, she picked up on Mia's longing and said, “Mia, count your blessings. Winter will pass, and summer will follow. The seasons shift, so let's just enjoy the here and now.”

Mia teased, "Wow, since when did you become so wise?"

“Are you okay, though?”

After a pause, Molly dropped a surprise. “Mia, I'm thinking about having a baby with Chad. Do you think I'm rushing things?”

Mia took her time before answering, “Well, I had that crazy thought too but was too scared to tell you. Having a kid is a huge deal, you know? You should really think it over. I was over the moon when I found out I was pregnant, but then it felt like my whole life went on hold.”

Molly slumped against her bed, a bit downcast. “Sigh... How did it happen for you? Did you take any fertility meds?”

Talking about the intimate details was awkward for Mia. “Honestly, we weren’t really sure which time did the trick, but out of nowhere, Henry came along. It might've been one of those nights where…”

The sisters chatted for over an hour. “Is Chad working tonight?”

“Yeah, he's on a night shift. Aren’t Andre and Henry with you?”

Mia laughed, “Henry insisted on going out, so Andre took him for a walk. It’s way too cold for me out there.”

Andre returned from the walk, both he and Henry chilled to the bone. Little Henry, with his rosy nose from the cold, darted excitedly to his mom.

After shedding their heavy coats, Mia scooped up her son, while Molly wrapped up the call.

Molly, now leaning against her bed, texted her forensic scientist sister, “Hey sis, who's on duty at your station tonight?”

Her sister quickly replied, “Let me check the roster. Why, are you trying to track down Officer Chad?”

Molly fibbed, “Just sending Chad some takeout. Wanted to order for everyone on duty too.”

Before long, her sister sent the duty roster. “Tonight, it’s Annie and Shawn.”

Molly: “…”

Soon, her sister added, “Molly, don’t bother with the takeout. Late-night food isn’t great for the kidneys.”

Molly responded, “Just this once, I promise.”

She ordered a few late-night snacks, sending them to the usual spot. Molly was famous at the station for being the snack fairy, even if she didn’t cook herself.

Chad received the late-night snack from his wife and delivered another portion next door.

Molly didn’t leave it there though; she called Chad, “Where are you?”

“Just dropped off some snacks next door, heading back to the office now.”

Molly perked up, “Did you tell them I sent the food?”

Under the moonlight, Chad chuckled, “Even if I didn't, everyone knows it’s from you.”

“That’s not enough! You have to tell them it was your wife who sent it. You must!” Molly insisted, a bit urgently.

Chad reassured her, “Saying it like that feels forced. They already know it’s you, no need to make it a big deal.”

Molly got out of bed, “I’m coming to find you at the station.”
