Conner replied, "No need. If we can't find Molly, there's no charge. That's just how we do things."
Andre respected their rule. "Thanks for your help this time. I owe you one. Don't forget to come and collect."
"Where can I find you?" Conner asked.
"Havenbrook, Maplewood Estates."
Andre paused at the door and turned back to Conner, "Only the strong get to seek revenge. Right now, you're just a small fry in this city."
With that, Andre left.
Conner stared into the fire, his determination unwavering. "I'll become the master of this city, no matter the cost."
Eventually, he made his way to Havenbrook, catching Andre on his way home from school at the Maplewood Estates gate. "Conner had been digging into Havenbrook, specifically targeting Cedillo Inc.'s mining operations."
"Appreciate it," Andre said.
Thanks to Conner's tip-off, Cedillo Inc. was prepared, and the Nettleton family got caught red-handed by the sly Hansen. "Conner, my friend, why didn't you give me a heads-up? I've been out of politics for years, doing business now, and yet you're still up to your old tricks."
Before they knew it, it was already eleven o'clock.
Andre wrapped his arms around his young wife, trying to lull her to sleep. "Honey, what happened next? I'm hooked and can't sleep."
"Do you have class tomorrow?"
"I can skip class, but you can't skip the story." Mia teased.
Andre sighed, "In the end, someone tried to kill Conner. I warned him ahead of time. He kept coming back and secretly helped me search for Molly. Over time, our friendship just sort of happened."
Later on, Cedillo Inc. refused to work with the Nettleton family on any projects, even though Conner and Hansen were friends. Hansen would always dodge when the topic of cooperation came up.
The Nettleton family established a rule: whoever could get Cedillo Group to collaborate with them would have a say in family matters.
The next day, Conner flew to Maplewood Estates, sprawled out on Andre's couch, and tossed him a document. "Sign and stamp it."
Andre tossed the stamp back. "Do it yourself."
By the third day, Conner was back. Before anyone could react, he secured the deal with Cedillo Inc.
"Conner, did you strike a deal with Andre?"
Andre was a tough nut to crack, not even giving his father an inch, so how could he work with Conner?
Conner's grandfather personally called Andre, "Andre, it's Conner's uncle. Are you and Conner friends?"
"If he wants, we can be. I've heard of his reputation, admire his guts and skills, so I chose to work with him. And only him!" Andre said, painting his friend in a golden light, elevating Conner's status within the Nettleton family.
The Cedillo family was crucial for the Nettleton family's business ambitions. Hansen had already declared the company would go to his second son, making Andre vital for maintaining ties.
Conner called his friend, "I was blind to have you follow me at first. From now on, I’ll follow you."
Andre laughed, "Then keep up."
Andre didn't plan to share all this with his young wife. He knew she'd keep asking, "What happened next?" "Honey, keep going." "Honey, then what?"
Andre looked down at his wife, her eyes wide with curiosity. "What about Mars? How did you two become friends? And Conner and Mars?"
Andre realized his wife was on a mission to uncover his past tonight. "Mars has been tagging along since we were kids. His dad and ours were political buddies. He'd lose a fight in kindergarten and run to me at elementary school for backup. Conner came by often, and eventually, they got to know each other."
