Tangled in his Obsession novel Chapter 53

Reminiscing or repenting?

Although Leandro offered two choices, Seraphina knew he was referring to the same thing, her past sins in this place.

Seraphina could not suppress a chuckle, asking, "Which reply do you believe will pacify Mr. Reynolds?" Her smile, simultaneously coy and daring, graced her lips as she pivoted slowly to confront Leandro.

Leandro, an imposing figure of towering height and impenetrable resolve, radiated an aura that seemed to petrify the air surrounding him. He retorted, "Your response is the one I seek."

Forewarning him with a note of sorrow in her voice, Seraphina moved towards him, confidently locking her gaze with his intense stare, "I fear you're in for a disappointment, Mr. Reynolds. There are aspects of my past I shan't dwell upon, for they bear no significance. Nor will I express remorse, as regret has never been my companion."

Leandro observed her, his expression as unyielding as a stone sculpture, clearly unfazed by her words.

She couldn't help but arch an eyebrow at him, "You let me go out of the goodness of your heart back then, Mr. Reynolds. Are you settling scores now?"

"Not in a hurry," Leandro replied, "I'll settle the score slowly after your game with Balch is over."

A soft laugh escaped from Seraphina, "Game? I'm not the type to play with feelings, Mr. Reynolds, don't slander me."

Leandro cracked a smile at her words.

"No more investigations?" he asked.

"Just insider trading, which big company isn't involved in one or two of these?" Seraphina replied calmly, "Two people together is an exchange of true feelings, these minor issues are irrelevant."

"Is it?" Leandro leaned in a little closer, "Why don't we test how genuine Balch's feelings for you really are?"

Seraphina could tell something was off with him.

He was probably upset, maybe because of his grandfather's illness. He had smoked a lot, and the smell of tobacco was stronger than usual. But mixed with the scent of perfume, it was just right.
