Ron hadn't seen Scarlett's grandfather in years. Yair was also a comrade of Ron before he retired from the army. The three talked about the old days without knowing time flew by.
Jacky came with his father this evening to meet Scarlett. He had always admired Scarlett. He wanted to know how Scarlett got such high grades on every exam. He asked Scarlett some questions and learned that Scarlett was born with a high IQ.
And Scarlett was also a diligent student. Of course, she would get good grades.
Jack's grades were good, too. It wasn't hard for him to get into a top-notch college. But he had ambition. With his current performance, he was still a distance from his dream college.
Jacky was frustrated when he learned that Scarlett's good grades were mainly due to her talent.
Seeing Jacky get silent, Scarlett realized that she might have just discouraged the boy.
She took a sip of her tea. It smelt nice. Then she turned to Jacky and smiled," What? Are you frustrated?"
Jacky was a good student in school. And because his father was a soldier, he was a boy of pride.
The answers Scarlett had just given him really frustrated him.
Jacky didn't want to lie to Scarlett, but he was embarrassed to admit that his pride was blown by her frank answers.
He blushed and didn't say anything.
Scarlett raised an eyebrow and asked, "Are there any students in your class from wealthy families?"
At his age, Jacky didn't understand what family status had to do with his study. He thought Scarlett was changing the subject, and he nodded, "Yes. Tom and Julia's families are both very wealthy; Tom is our class councilor and Julia is our class recreation councilor. Julia's father is the chairman of a public company, and her mother owns a painting training institute."
