As soon as Scarlett emerged from the hall, she saw Raymond on the sofa. Instead of his usual suits, he wore a thin black sweater and a pair of trousers of the same color as the sweater.
Raising her eyebrows, Scarlett went to the bar counter and poured herself a glass of water.
Seeing Scarlett come in, Raymond stood up and walked up to her. Without turning around, Scarlett felt Raymond coming towards herself.
Raymond approached her within two seconds.
Scarlett took a sip from her glass and looked at Raymond.
Raymond had not seen Scarlett for nearly half a month and had heard that she was away on business i n Bellbane City, where she had been for nearly ten days.
Scarlett wore a maple-colored sweater and a long white dress with her hair dangling over her shoulders, giving her a gentle appearance.
For a moment, Raymond wanted to take her in his arms, but he forbore from doing so.
He said, "Julie has apologized."
"Okay, I got it."
Scarlett gave Raymond a faint smile, and there was a hint of indifference in that smile. Then she asked icily, "Anything else, Mr. Shaw?"
"My legs ache a bit."
Raymond blurted out, not knowing why he had suddenly said it.
Scarlett looked at him and asked, "Do you need an ambulance?"
There was no trace of concern for Raymond in her words.
Because her attitude was as icy as it was when they first divorced, Raymond felt as if his heart was being slashed with a dagger.
His heart ached even more than his legs.
There was only him and Scarlett in the big living room. For quite a while, neither of them spoke. And the silence started to embarrass Scarlett.
She then put the glass down and planned to leave.
She didn't want to be alone with Raymond.
"Scarlett! You were right the other day. I'm not good enough for you. I always ignored you and didn't consider your feeling in the past. Now, I'm in love with you, and I want to get back together. But I'm still thinking about my feelings instead of yours. I'm sorry, Scarlett. Really." 1
