Katherine quickly led Breanna and Libby to Scarlett's office, but she didn't immediately push the door open. Katherine knocked on it. "Ms. Reed, Mrs. Jones and Ms. Jones are here."
"Please come in."
Standing at the door and looking at Katherine, Breanna wondered why Katherine was so respectful to Scarlett.
Breanna thought Katherine and Scarlett were on equal footing
The door was pushed open by Katherine while Breanna was sunk in thought. "Mrs. Jones and Ms. Jones, this way please."
Breanna came out of her trance and
walked in.
Scarlett raised her eyes from her desk, smiling at them. "Mrs. Jones, Ms. Jones.”
Scarlett glanced at Katherine. "Katherine, pour two glasses of coffee please."
"Yes, Ms. Reed."
Seeing how Katherine and Scarlett got along, Breanna felt it was so strange.
Yet she didn't come to pry into their business. Breanna took out the gift from her bag and put it in front of Scarlett. "Ms. Reed, Libby and I did something wrong that day. We meant you no harm. Libby is young. She just can't forget about the vase, so she said that."
Breanna was waiting for Scarlett to say something, but Scarlett was just smiling at them.
Breanna’s smile faded. She had to go on," We came here to say sorry to you. This is a small gift for you, Ms. Reed. It's not expensive, but we’re sincere."
Breanna then looked at Libby next to her.
Libby glanced at Scarlett. "Ms. Reed, I didn’t mean to say that. I'm so stupid. I said it without thinking. Please don't take it to heart."
Scarlett smiled, "Mrs. Jones and Ms. Jones, it’s nice of you to come here. I've forgotten what happened that night."
