Alia’s implication was that Alexander didn't have a pretty face.
Alexander retorted, "Although I’m not as handsome as Leonardo, I'm not disgustingly ugly, am I?"
Alia didn’t answer him. She just looked at him in silence.
Alexander felt indignant. He turned to Scarlett and Raymond who were standing aside, "What do you guys think?"
Raymond curled his lips with a meaningful smile in his eyes, and Scarlett smiled," While you're not ugly, you're not charming enough to attract a lady to talk to you."
Was a pretty face a big deal?
Yes, it was! When the four went to dinner, not long after they sat down at a booth, the restaurant manager came over and asked Scarlett and Raymond if they could take a promotional photoshoot for Couple’s Day for the restaurant. In return, the dinner would be free and the restaurant would give them some coupons.
Alexander, who was sitting next to them, impulsively grabbed Alias hand, "How about we take the photoshoot?"
Alia tried to get away from Alexander's grip, but his grip was too tight for her to do so. She could only roll her eyes at him.
The manager looked at Alexander and Alia and smiled as he explained, "Our boss thought that this gentleman and this lady fit our restaurant better."
Alexander was speechless. He literally felt offended!
Alia shook Alexander's hand off. "We are not a couple. We shouldn't lie to this gentleman to get a free meal."
"I don’t lack the money. I'm just--"
The words were on the tip of his tongue, but Alexander swallowed them back.
Shit! He felt it was humiliating.
The manager's inquiry was coldly rejected by Raymond, and he had to leave with regret.
Scarlett looked at Alexander, "Mr. Shaw, don't be upset. After all, you are a rich man.
Alexander thought Scarlett was trying to comfort him, but after hearing her whole sentence, he felt even more upset, "Scarlett, what do you mean?"
Alia interjected, "Scarlett's right."
Alexander felt he was asking to be humiliated himself today and he actually paid for it. How could he have been so stupid and asked Alia to come with him?
