Scarlett kept silent until Cain finished speaking. She then asked slowly, "So you mean that you want to step aside for your son now?"
Cain was afraid that Scarlett would misunderstand him, so he immediately explained, "Ms. Reed, my son is indeed excellent. You can check his profile."
Scarlett smiled. "Your son is naturally an excellent talent. I never doubt it. But..."
As she said, Scarlett held a pen and drummed it on the desk. "You are saying you cannot bear to see Abraham harm
Tenton. Then how could you bear it before?"
The smile on Scarlett’s face faded away, and her pretty eyes hardened. "What did Mr. Maston give you in return so that you are willing to come to me and swallow humiliation?"
Cain’s face changed when he heard Scarlett's words. "Ms. Reed, I don't quite understand what you mean. You're right. I was blinded by Abraham's promises before. However, I have experienced many things, and this event dealt me a head-on blow, so I come to my senses now. I'm just telling you those things so you’ll be on your guard. If you think I'm not credible, you don't have to believe me. But your words are too insulting!"
Cain finished speaking, his face also hardening.
Scarlett looked at him and said with a halfsmile. "Do you know you have a flaw?"
"Since you don’t believe me, it's pointless for me to say anymore!"
Cain turned around to leave. Scarlett had no intention of asking him to stay here. She just said behind him, "I will give you a piece of advice. Haste makes waste. One should never show his cards before a negotiation. You have done business for so long. I think you should know that rule better than me."
Just as Cain walked to the office door and held the door handle, he heard Scarlett's words sounding from behind him.
He froze, pulled the door open fiercely, and left the office in strides.
