The Adorable Twin’s Sticky Daddy novel Chapter 122

While tightly grasping the hem of her gown, Nancy frantically ran over to her mother.

"Mom! Mom!¹¹

At this time, Charles had jumped into the water and immediately pulled up Nancy's mother, who was still struggling. He lifted her with all his strength and swam towards the bank.

"Aunt..."

"Mom..."

Nancy and Doris helped Charles carry Jade ashore.

Nancy immediately helped her mother do chest compressions and gave her artificial respiration.

As she did this, beads of cold sweat gathered on her forehead. Even her hands that were exerting force on Jade's chest were trembling in fear.

Fortunately, someone called the ambulance, which soon arrived.

The onlookers couldn't help but sigh as they watch Jade being loaded inside to go to the hospital.

"Is the engagement ceremony over?”

"Yes, it is!"

The guests shook their heads in a mixture of disappointment and slight worry. After all, they weren't expecting such an incident to happen in one of the heavily reported events in the entire city.

"Joseph, did you do that?" Derrick asked in a low voice. The hint of suspicion was evident not just in his face but even in his tone.

His son, although kept his mouth shut, just laughed while coolly putting his hands in his pockets.

"I was with you all this time. Even if I wanted to do that, I didn't have time, you know."

"It would be better if it was not you. Now that your grandpa seemed neutral about Nancy, it will be best if we don't provoke him," Derrick warned him with a stern tone.

"Humph! Am I really that kind of person?" This time, Joseph was filled with disdain.

Meanwhile, the ambulance arrived at the hospital and immediately discarded Jade to the emergency room.

The doctors were started rescuing their patient in the emergency room.

And all Nancy could do was sit on the waiting chair while covering her face with her palms.

She was not the type to get too emotional, but ever since she got involved with the Fu family, a lot of terrible things had happened to her and the people around her. And all these too much to handle even for a strong woman like her.

It seemed as if a binding force was prompting him to stay away from Charles.

She could care less if she was the target, but she could not ignore her mother's and Nadia's lives being in danger because of her.

They were her only family, the most important people in her life. And she couldn't afford to lose them over her happiness.

After all, blood was really thicker than water. So while waiting for the doctor's update, Nancy wondered if she deserved to be happy while their lives were in jeopardy.

"Nancy, I will find out what happened today and get to the bottom of it. Don't worry!"

Charles tried to comfort his fiance, seeing as how a mixture of worry and exhaustion was painted on her face. He gently squeezed her hands to ease her burden somehow. "Why do all these things always happen ever since I got involved with you? I'm tired, Charles. I'm tired of it all! Maybe it's time you finally let me go." The pain in her voice exhibited how decisive she was. She was really ready to let go of him!

"What are you talking about? Everyone in this city knows that we are engaged. How can you break up with me just like this?! I will never agree!"

Nancy looked straight into his sharp eyes, and slowly she stated with utmost conviction, "You're wrong. Everyone knows that the ceremony didn't finish. I don't want anything bad to happen to my family. I don't want it at all!

I'm really sorry, Charles."

For a while, Charles was lost in a daze. His mouth was agape while his eyes beamed with sorrow.

This was the least he was expecting when he woke up today. It should have been a happy day for him, but a storm suddenly came wrecking his world.

Right now, all he could do was helplessly stare at Nancy with a pair of eyes, almost begging her to rethink everything. There was no way in hell he'd let her go after everything that had happened.

While swearing this to himself, the doctor came out approaching them.

"Doctor Nancy, your mother has woken up!"

"Thank you! Thank you so much!" Nancy's voice was filled with relief and excitement as she bowed a couple of times. Then, she urgently stood up and walked over to her mom.

With an oxygen mask on her head, Jade quietly stared at Nancy's face for a while, and then rested her eyes on Charles' face.

She opened her mouth to say something, but the oxygen mask prohibited her to.

"Mom, I'm here. Don't worry. Well talk later!" Nancy comforted her while gently caressing her hands.

"Aunt...” Charles also came over and greeted her with a cautious voice.

Unable to talk, Jade could only look at him with sheer sadness glimmering in her teary eyes.

Nancy thought that her mother was probably opposed to her being engaged to a man like Charles.

"Mr. Fu, please go back. I will take care of my mother by myself." The formality in her voice left Charles dumbfounded. More than that, she had obviously made up her mind to drive him out.

So, after being petrified for some time, Charles silently walked out of the room, feeling utterly helpless.
