Then, Charles donated his blood to Nadia.
Fortunately, Nadia was safe and sound. She was scared and injured, but her injuries weren't grave. She was just fine.
When Nadia was brought out of the operating room in a stretcher, Nancy collapsed into Charles' arms and clung to him due to her feeble knees.
"Doctor, how is she?" Charles asked anxiously.
"She's fine. There's nothing to worry. She'll wake up soon," the doctor said as he took off his mask.
"Thank you so much," Nancy said in a weak voice.
"You look too nervous, Dr. Nancy. The kid is all right now. You'd better have some rest now," the doctor comforted her.
"Yes," she answered. But she was unwilling to leave her child's side. So she followed the doctor and nurses to Nadia's ward.
Nadia hadn't woken up yet. She was just lying on the bed as if she was asleep.
"Charles, Nadia must have been very scared today. After all, she is still so young!" Nancy held Nadia's hand and kissed her over and over again.
"I'm so sorry, Nancy. It's all my fault!" Charles said sadly.
He really regretted that he hadn't listened to Nancy's advice to let go of Dorothy earlier.
If he had done it earlier, maybe Nadia wouldn't have been injured today.
"Charles, I'm afraid we shouldn't be together. Bad things will happen as long as we are together. My mother was pushed into the swimming pool during our engagement. Now we are together once again. And Nadia is hurt by them..."
Before Nancy finished her words, Charles covered her mouth with his hand.
"Nancy, I don't agree with you. Certain things have happened. But, what does it have to do with us?"
Nancy sighed. She thought for a while and decided not to be too harsh on Charles. Since things had already happened, it was useless to be harsh on him!
"Nancy, why does Nadia have the same blood type as mine?"
Charles was too busy to ask this earlier. He wanted to ask her about this, but the situation wasn't right. Now when he was sitting idly, the question suddenly came into his mind and he just asked her.
As expected, he saw Nancy dodging.
"Is she my child?" Charles asked tentatively.
"Don't think too much. It's just a coincidence!" Nancy said perfunctorily.
"Think too much? Nadia is the same age as Bobby, isn't she? The two kids look alike as well, don't they? Besides, I even find that you and Bobby look alike, and Nadia looks pretty like me. I find it hard to believe that all these are just coincidences. What do you think about it, Nancy?" Now, Charles began to doubt that the girl who gave birth to Bobby was in fact Nancy.
However, it was easy to test his suspicion. All he needed was to just conduct a paternity test and find out the truth.
Of course, Nancy knew that!
But how would the people opposing them react if Nadia's identity was exposed?
The mere thought of such a strong and overwhelming opposition made her feel cold.
"Charles, many people in this world look alike, and that doesn't mean anything. If you have any doubts, you can do a paternity test!" Nancy said indifferently.
She was a doctor, so she was confident that she would be able to easily replace Charles' test result.
But Charles didn't expect such a firm response from her.
He decided to proceed with the paternity test. He collected his as well as Nadia's hair sample and sent it to testing.
Then he waited anxiously for the result.
However, to his surprise, the result said that it wasn't a father daughter relationship.
Disappointment filled his heart. He said, 'Tm not satisfied with the paternity test result. There must be something wrong with the whole process."
"Don't doubt it, Charles. There's nothing wrong with the paternity test!" Nancy shrugged to convince him. "You are thinking too much."
