The Adorable Twin’s Sticky Daddy novel Chapter 252

Nancy needed time to process what she saw and everything Erin said. The room was silent for about ten minutes.

She already knew about Jessie's greed, but she didn't expect it was that much. It was as if she was exchanging her conscience for money.

Nancy was a doctor herself. Jessie should know that it was their responsibility as doctors to save lives and heal the wounded.

Finally, Nancy broke the silence. "Erin, please put the notebook here," she said with a sigh.

"Director Nancy, you must keep this a secret for my sake! If Jessie finds out about this. I'll be in big trouble!" Erin pleaded.

"Don't worry, Erin. I know exactly what to do," replied Nancy in a reassuring voice.

"Thank you. That's really good to know. I have to get back to work now." After saying this, Erin walked out of the room.

Nancy's heart felt heavy for the rest of the day.

After a long day at the hospital, she needed to call Charles and hear his voice.

Charles, meanwhile, had just walked out of the CEO's office. He was on his way to pick up the children in the kindergarten.

The sudden call from Nancy surprised him. "How come you have free time now?" His gladness was evident in his voice.

"Well, it's because I want to see you," said Nancy whose voice revealed that she was feeling lonely.

"Why? Is there anything wrong?" Charles was concerned. He tried to lighten up her mood by teasing, "Oh, I know why. You probably miss me."

Surprisingly, Nancy still sounded melancholic. "No, I don't. That's different from wanting to see you."

"Well, if you say so. Wait for me. I'll come right over to pick you up," replied Charles.

"Wait for me at the steamed bun shop on the east side of the hospital. I'll see you there!" suggested Nancy.

"Okay, that sounds good." Something was bothering Nancy today, Charles could tell. Her mood was unusually gloomy.

He couldn't help but wonder about what could have happened. He hoped he would find out soon enough.

Nancy wasn't really the type who got bothered by gossip and what other people thought. What could have happened today?

Charles felt worried and uneasy for the whole duration of the trip. He drove as quick as he could towards their meeting place. When he arrived, Nancy was already there. She was occupying one of the tables on the far end of the shop.

It was autumn now. She wore a cream-colored windbreaker, blue jeans and a pair of white sneakers.

Her smooth hair was a little messy; some strands fell over to her face. Maybe it was because of the wind. Even from afar, one could tell that Nancy was intelligent and witty.

Nancy?" He called her name after he stopped the car and rolled down the window.

Nancy stood up and walked over to his car. He could see in her face that indeed, she was feeling lonely today.

When she reached the passenger side of the car, she opened the door and hopped in.

"What's wrong, Nancy? You look troubled." Charles started the car as he asked.

Nancy was contemplating whether it was wise tell Charles about Jessie.

If she told him, it was likely that he would fire Jessie. Otherwise, he would come up with a reasonable punishment.

But how about Anna? What would happen to her in the event that Jessie got fired?

Without question, her professional experience was not half as much as Jessie's.

Nancy remained quiet for a while. She continued to deliberate whether she should share the newly discovered information with Charles. In the end, she decided against telling him.

"Anna tried to hurt Boyd. Are you going to let that go?" Charles suddenly asked, interrupting her thoughts.

"I wouldn't, but there are so many patients now. If we let them leave, there wouldn't be enough doctors to take care of all the patients," Nancy said, a bit embarrassed.

"You always think about others. When will you prioritize yourself?" Charles sighed, feeling a mix frustration and worry.

Tm a doctor. It's almost instinctive for me to look after my patients' wellbeing above my own," responded Nancy plainly.
