The Adorable Twin’s Sticky Daddy novel Chapter 262

Nancy was speechless. She didn't expect Doris to take it too seriously.

"I was just kidding, Doris. Are you really going to do that?"

Unlike her, Doris took this idea seriously. "Of course! He's my husband. Would it be wrong for me to keep an eye on him?"

Since Nancy was aware that pregnant women were sensitive, she coaxed Doris, "I know he's your man. And I do agree that you should keep an eye on him. Anyway, how is your belly? I hope it is feeling better."

With a small smile, Doris flimsily rubbed her eyes. "It feels significantly better now. I just feel lonely without anyone to talk to. Everything seems fine whenever he's home, but I can't help myself from over thinking the moment he steps out of the house. What should I do, Nancy?"

"I know things could get a little lonely sometimes, but you have to understand that Jay is his own man. He has his own career. He can't stand idly by, especially for you and the baby. You have to understand him, Doris." Her eyes were intently looking at Doris as she persuaded her.

After she took a deep breath, she replied, "Well, I will try.

"Okay. For now, get up and cook something delicious. Or should I ask a servant to do it for you?" Nancy checked her phone and realized that she had to go. "Also, when you have time, try listening to some music and talking to the baby. It will be a big help. I'm going off work now, Doris. Call me if you need anything, okay?"

Before she could leave, Doris was starting to sob again. "Okay. Don't turn off your phone at night, okay? Please keep in touch. I get really depressed sometimes. Maybe it's the pregnancy...I really can't imagine how you got through yours. It's just so uncomfortable at times."

As a mother, Nancy truly understood how difficult pregnancy could get; especially to a first time mom.

At that time, she had servants accompanying her. Her mind recalled how she wondered every time the baby moved in her belly before. How would it look like? Would the baby be tall or short? She had thought about every little thing related to her baby. That was how excited she was to see it.

As the baby inside her grew bigger, Nancy's anticipation for her delivery grew stronger. But she would grow to dread that day—the day which meant she would be separated from her baby.

Fortunately, she got to meet her child again. However, Nancy knew that her debt to Bobby was hopelessly irreparable, even if she spent her life trying to do so.

"Why won't you say anything? Nancy, do you hate me?" Doris asked while still sobbing.

Her voice brought Nancy back to reality. "No, nothing! Don't be sad, Doris. Go and eat something. I'll head home for now. If you still want to chat when I get home, then we'll chat. Sounds good?"

And then she grabbed her white gown and her shoulder bag before she bid her goodbye.

Left with no other choice, Doris reluctantly said, "Okay then. Goodbye."

Nancy was indeed sad. The thought of her past had rendered all of her work irrelevant. Even though she constantly made effort to make up for her mistakes, she still felt a crippling sense of bitterness and depression.

When Nancy got home, she found that the kids had already returned from school.

That day, she expected Charles to get off early from work. But to her surprise, it was Hiram who looked after the children.

"Miss Ning, it seems that Mr. Fu was caught in a work-related emergency. He had asked me to tell you that he might come home later than usual. I also picked up the children for you. Since you're home. I'll head back now. Call me if you need anything," Hiram said respectfully.

Curious about where Charles went, she asked, "Okay. Thank you, Hiram. Didn't he happen to tell you where he went?"

"No, Mr. Fu simply said that he would be working late." A weird smile appeared on Hiram's face, which was different from how he usually smiled.

"Mr. Fu may have some social engagements from time to time, but do keep in mind that he is truly a family man. Don't worry, Miss Ning."
