The Adorable Twin’s Sticky Daddy novel Chapter 281

"Jay, please let go of Owen!" Doris thought, 'I can't let Owen lose his job because of me! I'd never be able to escape that guilt.'

"Oh? Why are you always trying to protect him? Do you know him?" asked Jay.

"No, I don't know him. I just feel sorry for him!"

Doris thought, 'I can't admit it!' She bit her lips and held back any urge to speak.

Jay pointed his finger in her face as he said, "It's so strange. He made a mistake, but you didn't blame him. Instead, you pitied him... What kind of thinking is that? Do you think that Owen is better than me or something?"

Doris nodded instinctively.

At the sight of that, a chill came to Jay's eyes. "What?"

Realizing what she had just done, Doris felt a shiver run down her spine as she froze in fear.

She shook her head immediately and said, "No, I don't. I think you are a good man..."

With a forced smile, she cursed him countless times on the inside, 'Bastard, inhuman, devil...'

Her thoughts couldn't escape Jay. All of a sudden, he raised her little chin and asked, "Are you cussing me behind those vacant eyes, Doris?"

Doris thought, 'What? That bastard can read my mind?'

"I wasn't. I would never. Why would I ever think such a thing, Jay?" In order to look sincere, Doris tried her best to force a smile.

Jay took a deep pull on his cigarette and blew the smoke on her face.

"Ahem..." She began to cough.

"Doris, you don't want Director Hobart to fire Owen, do you?" asked Jay.

"No I don't. Owen just made a tiny mistake. There is no need for him to be fired."

"Well, I guess it's fine if he doesn't get fired..." Squinting his eyes, Jay began plotting something.

"Really?"

"Yes... But I have one condition."

"What condition? Tell me. As long as I'm capable, I'll do anything to the best of my ability!" said Doris. After all, she couldn't bear the lifelong guilt. It was complete torture.

"You'll be able to do it!" Jay put out the cigarette and said confidently. His voice sounded a little different, somewhat ominous.

He lowered his head and his breath with the smell of tobacco tickled the back of her neck.

Doris gasped and shrugged her shoulders subconsciously.

"As long as you please me and make me happy, I will let go of Owen, understand?"

Doris blinked her eyes slowly and asked, "What can I do to please you?"

The atmosphere Jay tried hard to create was easily destroyed by this blissfully ignorant sentence. How did she always kill the mood so effortlessly?

"Think about it! You'll figure it out," Jay said angrily.

"Okay!" Doris was confused.

They walked out of the elevator and into the parking lot, Doris behind Jay.

"Jay, look at you. You look exhausted. Let me drive," Doris said with a smile. Was this what he wanted to please him?

"No, thanks." Jay then got into the car. As a man, how could he let a pregnant woman drive?

Doris sighed and thought, 'How can I please him? It's so difficult to figure him out!'

"Jay, you haven't had dinner, have you?"

Doris was right; he didn't have dinner but he had lost his appetite after such a long day.

"How about I cook some of your favorite meals tonight? Tell me what you want to eat?" Doris persisted.
